"We had quite an amazing experience at Marvel Hills. Location very good for local access, complete privacy in the room, and a host who was quite exceptional. Freshly prepared local cuisine for breakfast, great chats with the host, he even arranged for a local spice seller to come and see us, so now we have enough, high quality, spices to last for a good while. "The hotel is kept in great condition, the morning breakfast buffet has a good selection of western and Sri Lankan food. The rooms are spacious, the minibar is complementary, beds are comfy and you’re staying right next to the temple and a short walk from the lake."

"This hotel is well situated in the city but is Spartan in the extreme. Literally one tiny bar of soap. Tired and damaged fittings and soft coverings. Wifi dial-up speeds."

"My room was spacious clean and modern. It was very safe and quiet. Breakfast was provided and was excellent. It is located 15 minute walk up steep road from city centre. Easy walking down and cheap uber tuk tuk ride back up the hill after leaving city center. I highly recommend this hotel when staying in Kandy."

"Atiloua on reception always had the most beautiful smile to greet everyone. Everyone was keen to help. The food and juices offered in the restaurant was very good. Interesting and delicious options on menu. No alcohol was sold on site and we went out for cocktails nearby."

"Fantastic service from the staff. Great room with million dollar views. Most comfortable bed I have slept in Sri Lanka. Beautiful rooftop with great infinity pool overlooking Kandy lake. Very walkable location - to the city in minutes! The only negative is that the hotel could not handle the volume of guests at breakfast. Many dishes were empty and kept empty for ages. The hoppers we ordered took 2 hours to come! This was the day after the Randoli Perahera so is assume they were not equipped to handle this number of guests. Looking forward to staying here again. A true gem run by the nicest staff ever! "
