Awesome place! The bunks are comfortable and one of the best hostel ones Ive seen anywhere. But the rooms are usually 6 beds per room but the rooms are very large.
Location: amazing, downtown (main area lol, Hilo is a small town!)
Parking is free nearby at a 3 min walk.
Great people and welcoming.
Our family of three stayed in one of the private rooms. We felt comfortable and relaxed there. There were plenty of bathrooms to choose from. Very nice hostel.
We were very impressed with this property. Very clean. Staff was great. Access to a kitchen. Loved the breeze coming in the through the windows during the night. I would totally stay here again.
It's a lovely place, though Hilo itself is a bit run down. Itxs a great place to stay if you are going to go hiking, or to a much less crowded beach, but just know that dining is limited and nightlife is almost non-existent.
this is our first time staying in a hostel, at was a wonderful experience we had a private room with two beds. It was really clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bathroom were very large and really nice. The other travelers were very nice also. Not at all what I was expecting.
Would definitely stay here again.
A good place to stay. Very nice Staff. Thanks again to Emma! The Ray manta snorckel was great! The only think you Can improve IS to be able to turn off the light in the corridors so WE do not have light Coming through the Window. Great stay overall!
Very organized and most important extremely customer service oriented. Atmosphere is very laid back and friendly which is more the case with a hostel setup. However, this establishment is the benchmark in this criteria. //. Also, very well located in Hilo town for various activities.
The hostel is very good itself! The staff is very nice and is easy to communicate with. The activities are also a big plus. However, during my 6 nights stay, I had two louder nights. Not from outside or from younger people having fun, but from elderer people. If the maximum age would be 40 or 45, it would've been a nicer stay and the atmkspehere would've been more fun.
The front desk is nice and the hostel is a good and friendly place to socialize. My only complaint is the lack of quietness. The quiet hours are 11pm. So if you want to have a good rest after hours of flying, it is hard to get. In the early morning, you also hear the movement in the kitchen. If you don't mind the noise, it is a decent place to stay.
This was my second time staying at a hostel ever and as an immigrant Asian American I can tell you now that you should do a little due diligence to get a feel for what type of hostel you want to stay at. This was more of a community and the travelers there that want to share experiences with each other. I didn’t understand this until I found out days later that there was a community chat. All in all it was a good experience where I made more friends and spent some adventures with other travelers.
I had a 2-week stay there and it was like living in a frat-house! Staff was mostly inattentive to the facilities and guest unless they were flirting with them. The kitchen was dirty most of the time-I did a complete cleaning 5 times because no one cleaned up after themselves. Outlets in the bunks didn’t work most of the time. I would not EVER stay there again
