Hotel experience okay. No reception for the hotel, check in at the restaurant below the hotel. Hotel should provide clear direction mentioned where to check in. No wifi in room.

プラナカンの邸宅をリノベしたホテルということで、雰囲気は良かったけれど、夜中までのライブは騒音でした。また、アーリーチェックインをお願いしたもののスタッフの人が30分以上遅れ、フェリーの時間に間に合わないのではないかとヒヤヒヤしました。

Family getaway in Penang

Located at Pulau Tikus area, near Pulau Tikus night market with good hawker food after 6pm. Short walk to Gurney Plaza and Paragon malls. There are many local eating places within 500m. Room is on 2nd floor, with restaurant on ground floor. Simple room with 2 comfortable queen size beds. As Hotel is next to main road (Jalan Burma), it is rather noisy even late at night. Good place for short stay as there is no housekeeping. WiFi works well. Hotel name is Rain Garden. Good to tell driver exact address. Taxi drivers may not be able to locate RG Boutique Hotel.

Gezellig knus

Ligt in geweldig gebied om te eten zowel avond als ontbijt. Aardige ontvangst door personeel van het restaurant . De bovenverdieping is aan de warme kant. Jammer dat er geen handdoeken worden gewisseld tijdens het verblijf. De afstand naar het centrum is zeker 3/4 uur met de bus. Iets verder op gaat ook een gratis bus naar het centrum om het uur.

Generally good value for money

The staff were very helpful. They messaged me the day before check in to provide information on the location of the hotel and how to reach there, but we were unable to find the location on Grab and the taxi drivers didn't know the location as well. Eventually we had to manually pin the location on the app. The location itself was great, close to many good food places, but it can be quite noisy at night and since it's at roadside. Other than that, the room was clean and comfortable, description was accurate, the bar/restaurant downstairs is a good hangout place at night.

Quite a unique experience on converted shop house. Pls remove Heritage in hotel booking name. Just Rain Garden Hotel. Our taxi took us to the real Heritage Hotel n we need to take another taxi to your hotel.

Nice but could be better

Appreciate that a staff actually text prior to arrival regarding arrival time. However the info was not passed down to staff. Hence some confusions at checking in earlier. Also during check in staff inexperienced in handling. Good deco interior Bed bugs on upstairs bedding. Poor sound proofing as property is at main road junction. Nice courtyard restaurant and hang out place

Nettes Hotel mit eigenem Stil

Das Hotel besticht durch seine Art, der grosse Restaurantgarten wirkt wie eine kleine Oase. Wir haben auf der Dachveranda gefrühstückt. Mit Bus war das Zentrum gut zu erreichen. Selbst das Personal vom Restaurant ist hilfreich, wenn es um das Hotel geht.

A cozy and clean place

They provide wifi, however, the signal is not that strong, I can't get on the internet at the most of the time. The communication with the host is very good! They response very quickly and friendly, which help a lot!

Difficult to locate lodging. Entrance is from beginning of Lorong Bangkok. Overall is a nice stay. Walking distance to eat local food like lok lok, egg oyster, etc. able to walk to Gurney Drive to have hawker food.

Traditional boutique hotel close to everything

The hotel is a gem and very good experience for first time or returning travellers to Penang. 7 rooms in total converted from old shop houses with the ground and courtyard converted to a bar, pub and restaurant named Rain Garden. It can be noisy at night. Zero parking facilities but it was ok as we relied on Uber to go anywhere. Be warned that there are a lot of steps to climb if travelling with an older person. One in our party was in his 90's. The hotel manager Vicken was great. He gave us an easier room to access. We just had to be very careful going up and down the many steps. Great location on Bangkok Road next to food and easy walking distance to everything including the Sleeping Buddha attraction and Gurney shopping centres.

good location - value for money

Central location 10mins walk to Gurney Paragon and Gurney plaza. Limited parking lots - parking coupons were provided. Rooms are on the second floor of the Rain Garden restaurant however there were no signs of the hotel name around. Very weak/no wifi connection in the room. Room is quite dim, would be better if brighter. Very noisy when there are karaoke sessions till late on some nights.

Cosy Heritage boutique hotel near Gurney Drive

RG stands for Rain Garden. Entrance is along Lorong Bangkok, tucked in a corner. It's above RG restaurant/bar. It's a studio/loft, 2 double beds. Shower is not as strong as I like it, but the heater works great. Iron, ironing board, hairdryer, adapter available. Suggested to the staff they could consider supplying bedroom slippers as I got a splinter from the wooden floor, but it was the first time the staff heard of such a thing. No lift, stairs to the rooms are slightly steep. Stairs in the room have narrow steps. Walking distance to malls @ Gurney & the hawker centre. Uber fare was RM3 to Gurney Paragon. Uber drivers in Penang are great! No lobby/reception, but Hotel owner and staff are reachable via Whatsapp and they are responsive, approachable & kind. Owner even offered to drop us to our destination when we checked in but we wanted to settle down for a bit before heading out. Not sure if there is a fixed housekeeping schedule, but if you need anything changed/fixed/replaced, just text them. Many food options downstairs, opposite & near Pulau Tikus wet market. Overall, great stay and we recommend this hotel! :)

The hotel is situated alongside a busy main road so the noise is constantly noticeable. Although lacking proper parking bay, the hotel extended their hospitality by giving us free whole day parking vouchers so that we can park anywhere in the town. Room was a bit dark, maybe this is what you get in 'old heritage style' dwelling. There are only seven rooms altogether and downstairs is a big restaurant/pub. Great eateries and shopping malls in nearby Gurney Drive. The downside is the extremely slow and limited wi-fi coverage.

Good value for money

Overall it's a great value for money, location is good, great local food just around the corner, big shopping malls just a few mins' walk. However a big downside is that the property is next to a busy road, and very loud motorcycles passing by all the time! The noise can be very annoying when you are inside room, we had no problem falling asleep though because of earplugs and the noise somewhat gets down at night. But if you are a light sleeper, don't stay here.

Beautiful boutique guest house.

The guest house is located near gurney drive, is new and just started business on July to accept guest, the room is tastefully renovated and everything is new, the cafe below serve food, coffee, tea and beer, surrounding area is full of local food easily get around the corner, recommended for family, friend and gathering.
