Lovely old quarter with narrow cobbled street lined with churches, museums, bars and cafes. Nice harbour front too. All restaurants seemed reasonable value and some of the artisan and food shops looked colourful & authentic.

The area around the marina is in the old part of the city, on the flight path to the busy airport, plus the city does not sleep until gone 2am. There many old buildings, the architecture is very interesting with a fort.

The harbour is the focal point for visitors. Pleasant to stroll around. Plenty of places to eat and drink. The beach is separated from the town by a lagoon. Lots of boat trips available.

Hoping Faro is on an up-tick. There's plenty of great food to be found at reasonable prices. And construction and rehab is omnipresent. However, graffiti is evident in epic proportions - distracting from an otherwise lovely small ancient city.

There were areas near the train station that felt a bit 'shady'. We were approached by a quite aggressive guy demanding money but luckily I was able to deal with him. I'd suggest ditching your luggage asap on arrival so as to be less noticeable.

Faro is a great place for a short weekend, I got the train down to Tavira which is very nice also. As reception about the Sunset Bar which has stunning photo's at Sunset. Plus cocktails, beer and music...
"Faro is a small town, emphasis on small, and very walkable. Our stay was great, no complaints at all. We had no issues checking in, the front desk was able to communicate with us via whatsapp which was very convenient, our room was comfortable and included a mini fridge. The location was perfect for us, close to the train station, bus station and airport. I would stay here again! "
