We arrived at 4 pm and were told that no rooms were available at that time. Check in was 3 pm. We waited for about 30 minutes and eventually got our room(s). The rooms are terribly hot and there is no way to cool them down. No thermostat available.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Breakfast and meals in restaurant / bar all very good.

Palatial. Excellent restaurant and bar area. Convenient to the airport and Malahide castle. HIGHLY recommend visiting Malahide Castle and the grounds. Give yourself plenty of time. It’s GORGEOUS.

Because of illness I had to cancel on Thurs 7 December and so did not check in this time. The above assessment is based on my experience of a previous visit. Out of courtesy I let the hotel know so that the room could be sold to someone else. I wonder if any refund is possible if the room was let to another guest?

This hotel is beautiful. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable, although a bit too warm at night. However, we opened the windows and soon cooled down. Its location is close to numerous bars and restaurants and within easy walking distance to the railway station with regular trains into Dublin. The hotel restaurant is well worth a visit for delicious food, a good range of drinks and helpful, friendly staff. I would definitely recommend the Grand and will be staying here again.

Just a perfect place
I always try to stay at least a couple of nights in The Grand at the beginning of my Ireland trips, after arriving jet lagged from the west coast of the US it’s nice to have somewhere to relax and recharge, The Grand has great food, clean rooms very friendly staff and he’s perfectly situated next to the beach a short walk to the village and to the castle with its gardens

The Matt Ryan Bar and restaurant has some of the best desserts out there Like this apple crumble
Delicious salmon (This was the fish of the day when I was there)

Great hotel in lovely position
Hotel was beautiful inside and out and in a lovely location Watch out paying for an upgraded room and the room has an awful view of a brick wall a metal shutter and the air conditioning units. Wish I had chosen to include breakfast as to walk in was €47 for the two of us.

Above average hotel
Its a lovely hotel but the bedroom was dated and would benefit from a refurbishment. Also an al a carte breakfast menu may be beneficial for those of us who can't face a large breakfast .

Average but has amazing potential
Love this hotel and it’s perfect location in Malahide. Car parking is good although the underground car park could do with a spruce up and better lighting. Not sure the foyer works well but this is more to do with my preferences on designs and layout. Staff were friendly at reception and check in was completed quickly. The room I stayed in was beautiful but due to the inability to control the heating and loud annoying noises coming from the spa area were frustrating - my stay was disappointing, my fault for not asking for a room move but these days they should be able to improve noise insulation. I leave my room as clean as possible for room service however I was again disappointed at the obvious wipe over and make up of bed rather than being fully serviced. Ticket left on floor and some items not replenished- I understand recruitment is difficult at present but this hotel needs to show and live standards. Bars and food was excellent and altough I didn’t do breakfast the service and quality cannot be criticised. Would I stay again- not sure if I can find a similar hotel at the same value. This hotel is obviously spending money on improvements to rooms and design but due to its age it may need a major investment in cooling systems, noise insulation etc.

We were able to get an early check in which was nice because we wanted to return our rental car. We had dinner at the Matt Ryan Bar. Food and service was great!

Nice stay in lovely Malahide.
Beautiful hotel with a very friendly and accommodating staff. Malahide is beautiful. Malahide Castle and many restaurants & shops are within walking distance of hotel. Hotel has 2 restaurants and a bar too.

The Grand Hotel was a great place to spend a night before a flight. It is close to the airport while away from the more crowded downtown area, beautiful, clean, staff were great and there were lots of convenient food/drink options. It has a nice view of the water and is an interesting historic building. I loved the cozy reading books and lounge. Would definitely stay again.
