"It was the most discriminative environment I have ever been in. We were watched continuously for what I believe to be from our color. They frowned at us and whispered continuously. After being monitored for so long, we started to document the experience and have a bit of tangible evidence of the injustices. We paid for the v.i.p rooms and experience and it didn’t feel like it at all. It seems as if because of the language barrier that after we asked a question, they attempted once to answer and then would either walk off or just have an awkward silence until we came up with a solution ourselves. The security at one point followed us and asked “do you belong here?” We watched as other guests enjoyed the luxurious experience we should have had, even the ones who didn’t pay for v.i.p. The food was not good at all. We stayed for 7 days and 6 nights and for the first 4 days the water on the shore was filthy. On the 5th day they filtered the water and you could literally hear the people rejoicing. This was my first time out of the country and it was a terrible experience. One day as we entered the hotel from going downtown, one of the workers got on his small walkie talkie and uttered some words as he looked at us and then hurriedly turned his head, we went up the elevator which is in terrible condition btw and got to our room to ironically discover that the keypad to our room went out. The stay at this place was not welcoming and it feels as if people of color aren’t wanted."

"The place is nice and beautiful, the staff is good. They could do better food, not the same item everyday if it's a Mexican country and they should be Mexican food. The only thing you have to be careful sometimes the staff give you miscommunication information that can cause you money"

"This was our 4th stay in 12 months at The Westin. It's always been a favorite, but there was a noticeable difference in the helpfulness at the front desk this past trip. We encountered multiple difficulties and a lot of attitude. It was sad and disappointing as we are used to being treated like family. We had to ask for the room service menu, schedule, and robes for our room that typically are in there. The water in our bathroom was very smelly. The room service food was usually inedible. That being said, the staff in the 2 restaurants went above and beyond to greet us, to make special off menu food for us to accomodate us as vegetarians. They were always coming up with new options so we didn't get bored of the food. We love the snorkeling there and the beds more than anywhere else, but it is time to try other places."

"We stayed in one of the oceanfront jacuzzi suites. Our view was incredible! The bed was comfortable and there was a small fridge. The hotel provides bottled water and we had breakfast included which was a hot breakfast, eggs/sausage plus yogurt and fruit. I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful small hotel. The staff was amazing, went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home. We will definitely be back!"

"Really enjoyed this hotel. Two restaurants, two pools, access to the ocean for snorkeling, poolside cabanas and multiple seating areas. Yoga and massages available. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Elevator access and water stations on every floor. The food was delicious! Hope to return soon!"

"Just a quick one night stay but it couldn’t have been more accommodating or authentic. Gentleman got me quickly in my casita, respected how tired I was and let me be. Needed to get up early to catch a taxi for a cruise and he went and got one for me with ease. Overall a lovely experience in a lovely place. Should I come to Cozumel again for real I will stay there."

"The home and our room were spotless. Host was very accomodating. It was windy and the seas were up when we stayed, lots of activity with Kiteboarders and windsurfers on the beach which was enjoyable to watch. Sargassum on the beach."
