Lovely hotel in a great location

Overall the hotel was excellent with 2 lovely clean pools. Our studio room was clean but small with a very small bathroom which needed upgrading. Excellent breakfast and very helpful staff. Good location with many restaurants nearby.

Lovely boutique hotel with an attentive staff which ensured your stay was memorable. Delicious breakfast, spacious rooms, great location as it is a few blocks walking to Dorp Street’s restaurants and shopping. Two pools with comfy loungers for chilling out post-vineyard visits. Across the street is easy access to hiking/biking trails.

Lovely 5* hotel in a quiet street in busy Stellenbosch. Room was modern, well appointed, with comfortable King bed and high quality linens. Breakfast is included (you can eat outside around the pool) but the service was really slow and not as polished or efficient as one expects from such a lovely property. On the plus side, a quick walk to good coffee shops, restaurants and the best gelato (Moro).

Our second time and we do like it a lot. The team are lovely and welcomed us back like old friends. Super convenient for strolling in to town. Lovely property, esp the garden and pools. Very peaceful. Only disappointment were AC not working properly, unit needs replacing. Had same issue last time. Mgmt need to invest in new ACs. And there’s no fridge in room which is a pain.

Loved staying at River Manor! Both comfortable and charming, this was the perfect place to enjoy Stellenbosch. The room was huge and had a gorgeous balcony, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Excellent value, I’ll stay here again on my next visit.

This is a wonderful property with great places to relax indoor and outdoor around beautiful grounds and pools. The staff is so welcoming and caring, there was genuine energy and positivity from everyone. One of the best stays in a hotel we've ever had, highly recommend.

Beautiful setting

Wonderful stay at River Manor Boutique Hotel - the setting and service were fantastic. Location was fantastic - just a few mins walk into Stellenbosch. Communal spaces were beautiful and the breakfast was delicious, with a lot of options. Only suggestion would be to redecorate the bedrooms - the bathrooms feel a little tired.

Beautiful hotel and nice staff/service, however, for the price we paid, we were expecting more. When we were taken to the room for the first time, they showed us some battery powered lamps to use when the power goes out. This was our first time hearing this. Power went out EVERY NIGHT from 10:00pm-12:00am and then 6:00am-8:00am. In addition, there were a lot of flies all over the common areas but mostly over the food in the breakfast counters. I would recommend getting a backup generator and some type of fly catcher or control to make the hotel experience better.

Service was initially quite poor. Front desk thought we hadn't paid in advance, when we had, and they wouldn't allow my wife to check-in without paying again pending my arrival a few hours later. They also didnt have any sparling wine in the bar and I was tild the next delivery was in 2 days time. To be fair the did eventually go and buys some locally but after me suggesting it might be a good idea! I have stayed here quite a few time over the last 20 years and it is looking tired, poor maintenance of gradens and building. It all needs a little TLC!
