It was both a two day, one night business and social visit to Cape Town.
The scenery is beautiful & the architecture stunning!
The cycling & hiking trails were a pleasant surprise.
We enjoyed both restaurants.
There was no time to fit in a wine tasting but we will definitely be back for an extended stay.
The property is quite isolated and blissfully quiet in the evening and early morning hours. During the day, throngs of visitors do come through to visit, however. There isn’t very much to do on the property itself (unfortunately neither pool nor tennis courts…although I’m told tennis courts are coming), but the restaurants on-site are good and, of course, there is wine…
Very good setting and convenient. Rather pricy compared to other , albeit limited options available. I was however disappointed with 3 meals I had there 🙁. Burger was dry, lamb flatbread EAS super fatty and an ingredient was missing … and really bad cold coffee at breakfast

Disliked: Staff & service
Never been greeted that unfriendly.
Waiting 20min without being recognized at all. Another wait of 20min, no water offered or something like „maybe you like to do the winetasting while you wait“.
Room was very dark. Could leave my car at the inside car parking had to drive it outside to the MTB parking. No information about the keys.. Extreme poor service, especially for SA.
Business trip - made a reservation at the restaurant - confirmed that it will be open until 10pm. Arrived late (due to a delayed flight) and were told that the restaurant closed at 8pm. Clear miscommunication between Hotel and independently run restaurant.
No uber service available in the area.
Would have appreciated a message letting us know to rather have lunch at the airport before arriving at a closed restaurant.
Completely amazing! Meerendal fully exceeded all expectations for our stay. We ended up being the only guests due to Covid, but the staff went above and beyond in their hospitality. Would definitely recommend and stay here again. Terry and Bongi were very helpful.
Stunning setting, comfortable and well equipped room. Lovely touch of a complimentary bottle of Meerendal wine. Friendly reception and great to have two restaurants on the premises.
Apart from the lack of a shower cap to use under the overhead shower, it was a great stay.
A bit off the beaten path, this quaint boutique hotel offers an opportunity to relax and unwind. Free wine tasting added to the overall enjoyment. Super breakfast included and on site restaurant made dinner a breeze.
A truly exceptional experience! Brilliant service!
The hotel is an authentic 18th century manor house with thick brick walls and a thatch room. The ambience is quite incredible!
The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating and the meals at The Crown restaurant on the property were delicious.
There is wine tasting and wine sales available, as to be expected, but there is also a cold distillery on the premises. (They use a vacuum to boil the alcohol off at only 22 degrees Centigrade.) We tasted the various spirits and were most impressed.
We are returning to the US with several bottles of Meerendal wine to remind us of our experiences there. (The Sauvignon Blanc is exceptional, as is the Pinotage!)
