Very nice hotel with great eating options. Would stay here again. Staff were very nice and accommodating and helpful whenever they could be. Room was nice and comfortable. Noise from the nearby school the only issue if you are a light sleeper.

Great room for the money

Cairo is a very busy, loud, congested city. The President is in a very peaceful neighborhood. All the staff was very friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. For the price, it would be hard to beat this hotel.

Location, Location

I have stayed in this hotel several times and found it to be consistantly good. Bearing in mind that it is a 3 star hotel the rooms are large and beds comfortable and clean. Staff are overall friendly, breakfast buffet is basic but sufficient. The location for me and the cost are the highlights. Situated in Zamalek a quiet suburb of Cairo if traffic flow is good you are just minutes from downtown without the noise during the night,

Love this hotel

Loved this Hotel. Have been to Egypt on numerous occasions, but this is the best for its location and cost. It’s very clean and affordable. The staff are very friendly, and the breakfast is a lovely start to the day. Great for all ages, I stayed there with my husband, while my parents later stayed at the same hotel and enjoyed it immensely. It can be a difficult place for you to find, although I found that all the cab drivers I talked to knew where it was. Ask for a balcony room.

Comfortable, quiet and centrally-located

The President Hotel was an ideal affordable home base for exploring Cairo. My room was clean and comfortable, the staff and management were helpful and responsive. Most amenities not available in the hotel were within a few blocks--the Zamalek neighborhood is very accessible and friendly to a non-Arabic-speaking foreign visitor. I would particularly recommend the driver I hired via the hotel, Khaled Abd Rabow, who was extremely punctual and dependable, speaks fluent English and Spanish, and is knowledgeable Egyptology and Egyptian history as well as expert in navigating the complex layout of the city.

Affordable, welcoming in central quiet area.

A neat affordable welcoming hotel in a quiet neighbourhood on the island of Zamalek. Moving around requires taxis while in Downtown or Dokki one might be closer to a metro. But taxis in Cairo are very affordable, only during part of the day the traffic is slow. Soon there will be a metro station on Zamalek too. This are is a bit greener and hopefully cleaner in air than some other parts. Another asset: dont miss the candidates for the best ice cream in the world nearby, Mandarin Zoaider, basically in the same street, with their mulberry and mastika icecream. Eating them combined is even better, there is some magical chemistry between the two tastes.

By lack of attention to detail I’m referring to the room’s stained mirror, dripping air conditioner, window left open and difficult to close properly, and no cups to drink the complimentary tea and coffee from. However, the room was clean and the beds comfortable. The breakfast selection was pretty good. Sadly, the fool beans were runny and unappetising and there was no hummus. The coffee wasn’t very good. All in all, it’s ok but could be much better.

Cheap, quiet, clean, friendly hotel in one of Cairo's best neighborhoods

The President Hotel is a great little hotel on the leafy green island of Zamelek in Cairo. The lobby very nice and constantly staffed. There is almost always a police officer hanging out with the doormen so safety is not an issue (even though the area is totally safe already). We stayed in 3 separate and different looking rooms due to our own scheduling issues and they each varied in levels of comfort. The first room had an A/C unit but it didn't work so we had to get a fan from the front desk. It also didn't have a shower curtain. The 2nd room was huge and had a great balcony and bathroom and working A/C. The 3rd room had a smaller balcony and a nice bathroom and working A/C. The bar upstairs was very nice. The free breakfast was pretty underwhelming with not a very large selection. We did not try out the basement bar so can't comment on that. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the hotel was very quiet. The only real problem we had was that cab drivers never knew how to get to it, but they are always willing to ask people so we always ended up there. I would definitely recommend this hotel to fellow travelers as a super cheap, very nice place to stay in one of Cairo's calmest neighborhoods.
