"Stephen was very friendly and helpful in giving us local insight on things to do in and around Santa Cruz. Our initial reservation was only for 2 nights, but we extended our stay for 4 nights, and we loved the location and courteous, knowledgeable staff that we met. Even the security guard helped answer our questions!!"
"The Gateway Hotel Santa Monica is a solid choice for travelers, offering clean and well-maintained rooms that deliver reliable comfort without being overly fancy. The décor is modern and inviting, with functional amenities that meet guests’ needs for a hassle-free stay. Most importantly, the staff proved attentive and responsive—always ready to assist with a friendly smile and prompt service.

"This was a one day stay to celebrate a birthday. We have visited this property three times since 2010. The staff is always friendly, the rooms are always clean, and we love the balconies, which are great for enjoying a glass of champagne and watching the sunset. It's not glamorous, it's a little kitchy, and it's perfect. It's also a lot less expensive than properties closer to the beach. While the surrounding neighborhood isn't the sexiest part of the city, it's easy to get practically anywhere from this location.
The property is old and in some ways shows its age, but the recent renovations have look great. The room was basic, but clean and new, and the balcony was spacious. I miss the old teal railings, but the pink facade remains and the building stands out as it always has. If you are a traveller that doesn't need much but a clean room, comfortable bed, and a hot shower, this is perfect. We also enjoy the fact that the property is located between the beach district to the west, and the restaurants to the east. The new wine bar across the street was terrific too!
Manny was gracious and welcoming and our check in/out was a breeze.
We'll be back. It's a tradition."
