About Asoke
The Asoke area of Bangkok is centred around the crossroads of Sukhumvit Road and Ratchadaphisek Road. The district is home to modern office and residential buildings and the Terminal 21 Shopping Mall. The high number of shops, restaurants, nightlife venues and hotels within easy reach of the Asoke Crossroads has made the area a popular base for visiting tourists.
Asoke is located at a major interchange of two of Bangkok’s city train lines. Bridges connect the BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit Line Station of Asoke with the entrances for the MRT underground station of Sukhumvit. Coming from Suvarnabhumi Airport, Asoke can be reached with just one change of train, while taxi is the best option if arriving at Don Mueang Airport. In addition to trains, tuk-tuks and motorcycle taxis are available for local journeys.
Don’t Miss
Terminal 21 is one of Bangkok’s premier shopping and lifestyle malls. The nine storeys of retail, dining and entertainment outlets are themed on global hotspots such as San Francisco, Istanbul and London. SF Cinema is on the top floor of Terminal 21 and boasts eight screens showing the latest blockbuster films. In case the 600 shops at Terminal 21 do not stock what you want to buy, The Emporium at Sukhumvit 24 is among other nearby malls.
Benchasiri Park and the larger Benchakiti Park are within walking distance of Asoke. Both feature lakes and shaded areas of greenery and are relaxing on hot days. From Sukhumvit and Asoke stations, Lumphini Park and Patpong are among the Bangkok tourism sites easily reached.
Restaurants and Bars
Wining and dining around Asoke is one of the pleasures of staying in this area. Sunrise Tacos and El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse are two of Terminal 21’s anchor eateries while the Pier 21 food court is rated the finest in Bangkok. In the local area, restaurants serving everything from pad Thai fried noodles to burgers will satisfy most tastes. The rooftop bar at the Hotel Muse is great for a cocktail, while Soi Cowboy is a top nightlife zone at Asoke. Nana Plaza and Sukhumvit Soi 33 are two more options not too far way.
Shopping
The Body Shop, H&M and Yumeya are a trio of the most visited stores at Terminal 21 but there are plenty of others with collections of jewellery, international brand clothing and footwear, high-end fashion accessories and souvenirs created by Thailand’s master craft workers. On Sukhumvit Road, there are still market stalls which sell souvenirs, woodcarvings, football shirts, toys and other products.
