Lovely old hotel that is a little rundown, but extremely clean. Breadfast n dinner is good.
Room a little dated but clean and functional. Not many staff speak English but we managed. The buffet spreads for breakfast and dinner was above average but catered to tour groups. The onsen both indoor and outdoor was good. My only gripe is when many people are using the water at the same time, the room bathroom water pressure drops to a trickle, even having no water at times. This only happens when bathers use the onsen showers in big numbers.
after my wife did a thorough research and reading every reviews, we made a decision to stay at this resort hotel. We were very pleased with out decision. Everything exceeded expectation plus the therapeutic benefit of curing chronic back pain was gone after staying here. The bed was very comfortable and onsen water is of top quality and 2 different variety. We had a great stay and service was great. Half board dinner and breakfast were great.

Nice Onsen hotel. The rooms condition is a bit old but in general, the location on the creek and the experience of spa in the nature is great. Staff are nice and kind.
The included dinner and breakfast was very good. The buffet dinner had alot of choices and so did the breakfast. The location of the hotel is ideal for the Sounkyo Waterfall Ice Festival which is only a 10minute walk from the hotel. We also liked the hotel shuttle bus provided from Sapporo, very convenient.

Good, but sister hotel better
Overall a nice experience - we went half board and both breakfast and dinner were good. They have a sister hotel that allows you to have dinner there, or visit the onsen. Both dinner and onsen were better in their sister hotel.
Good location to the mountain and easy walking to the cable car for mountain access. Next time, we will stay in the sister hotel
Our package included breakfast and dinner buffet ! Not too much surprises on foods , and all foods were the same on my both stays ! Dining music was a little annoying, hope they can switch to something soft and relaxation! Great onsen !

The Facility is clean.
Restaurant staff is good.
Front desk Japanese Staff, too noisy
I read the reviews and I was concerned and maybe why it was better than expected. The variety of food for dinner was great and a bit overwhelming... because I wanted to try them all.
Overall I would recommend for a mid price budget hot springs.
I stayed here for 2 nights. Dinner was disappointing. Breakfast was better. The bathroom in my room smelled bad. The view from the room was good. The location was good.

Quantity over quality
The stay was okay. I'm not sure if this is the case for all the hotels in the area but this facility seems to cater to Chinese and Korean tour groups who bring the volume of people that help this relatively large hotel stay in business. Facility was clean but a bit tired. Need to get to the onsen and have dinner early to beat the crowds.

The room is spacious. However, the staff is not so helpful. We requested them to make a reservation at a restaurant serving crabs and they said it's fully booked. But when we went there to ask, there were tables available. Also when we arrived, we were asked to park at a carpark 2 blocks from the hotel. We noted there was a carpark right at the hotel building. We tried asking the reception if we could park our car at hotel and she said there is height restriction. However, I don't think my car was over the limit.

Upon arrival we felt like we had arrived at the Shining hotel just as described in an earlier review, but at 3pm its lights on and showtime! Buses and cars arrive and the reception desk comes to life! After a botched car rental ( thanks Expedia : ( - we took the bus from Kamikawa which was easy and cheap. The hotel onsen was great, we went five times over our two days! Breakfast and Dinner buffet were included - the egg omelet was my fave breakfast item. Loads of food choices. We walked to the Ryusei waterfalls and took the ropeway and chairlift and then hiked to the top of Kurodake. The town itself was quiet - June 26, almost deserted - but a stunning place to hike and onsen. Took the bus back to Kamikawa with ease. It’s an older crowd at the hotel, regimented meal times, but a really enjoyable experience.
The food is repeated every day for almost 4 days. Food qualities is bad condition is lousy no form of service. Food is really at the 4/10 rating. So sick of the food on the 2 nd day. They must know the truth.
