"Great location, 20 min drive Southampton and from New Forest for walks. Lovely old pub, beautifully clean and welcoming. We ate in the garden and enjoyed our Caesar salad and burgers. Accommodation is in separate thatched building to one side of the pub and was quiet. Twin room (2 single beds) was huge with large walk-in shower. Breakfast cooked to order plus cereals, pastries etc on buffet. Coffee brought to our table. Staff all friendly and helpful. Will stay again. Only slight negative was...

"This hotel is old and unfortunately our room on the 3rd floor smelled of mould. Luckily the interior of the room was liveable but the hallway was horrible. You had to cover your nose to go in and out of the room. The breakfast was good but I would not stay again. There are better rooms around the same price in the area that I would stay at over this place. It’s very basic. The rooms are tiny and depressing. We had travelled a long way and were just happy to have a bed. "

"Fantastic hotel with wonderful gardens. Great location for visiting the local attractions. Staff were welcoming, friendly and polite. Food in both Monty's Bar and the Terrace Restaurant was outstanding. Highly recommended - looking forward to visiting again."

"Great hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Lewis is a real credit to the team. Tidy, clean and well maintained. The only thing we saw that was dirty was the sticky lift doors everything else was immaculate. Beds were really comfy, great bedding, shower great. Nice size tv. I was really pleased the kettle was sparkling, its one of the things that bothers me in hotels, if the kettle is gross and full of limescale. Really enjoyable stay. Would recommend and go back if i needed to stay in...

"Had received all the information about checking in along with the room number we were due to be in the morning of checking in i received a call to say there was a issues with the room and that we had been changed to a different one if you are given room 15 its not suitable for a couple. Only saw the proprietor once. Yes it's clean and it's ok for a overnight stay "

"Needed a base for a couple of nights for a coastal visit. Very well decorated room in semidetached. Large bed. Good bathroom with shower & nice choice of soaps, etc. Coffee maker and kettle, lots of tv channels. Ten minutes walk up from Central station and regular buses at both ends of road."
