"The property is amazing! It’s small and quaint. We stayed in a bungalow which also offered needed privacy given the trees surrounding the unit. The food was excellent (the free breakfast was a nice additur) and the service attentive. They went out of their way to assist us with our needs. It is in the heart to Puerto Viejo’s downtown area so close to everything - restaurants, shopping, and La Playa Negra (black beach). The only negative was the cleaning lady’s use of water apparently drenched...

"Absolutely loved our stay. Staff was amazing and attentive. The grounds are open to people staying after the park closes so it was nice to explore. They offer animal interaction feeding for a reasonable price per the room regardless of number of people, which was great! Had free fishing on grounds which kids loved. Dinning was great. Enjoyed our stay. "

"We were genuinely sad we only had one night to stay at Banana Azul! Check in was quick and efficient and friendly. The fresh coconut was a lovely treat. The Howler Suite was charming and the view magical. The food in the restaurant was delicious. I highly recommend Banana Azul if you want an authentic Costa Rica experience that’s right on the Playa Negra beach. I’ll definitely be returning. "

"Lovely resort tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the busy town. You wouldn’t even know it’s there. Need to have coffee makers in the rooms along with access to communal water and ice. For the price, it was expensive."

"Personnel très accueillant et sympathique. Chambre peu spacieuse mais confortable, salle de bain grande mais pas assez de tablettes pour déposer les effets personnels. Déjeuner style buffet copieux avec fruits frais et œufs fait sur demande. On a aimé la piscine, juste assez grande pour se rafraîchir et lire un peu. On a même eu la chance d’observer un paresseux de très proche grimper sur un arbre."

"This was an amazing property with lovely, patient staff, and owners who had an answer for each of the (many, many) questions we had. The area is beautiful and safe, and the owners make it a point to make sure guests are getting what they want out of a vacation. Thank you for nudging us to bike to Punta Uva, Eric. "Staff was welcoming and very understanding about our flight cancellation. They called to check on us. Provided great info where to go to the beach. The house keeping crew made sure our place felt very welcoming. Bartender Jonathan was so awesome. Gave recommendations. Stephanie welcomed us the night we got in late. She checked on us to make sure we arrived safe in Costa Rica since AA canceled our flight. "
