Harbor Lite Lodge

"The property itself was clean, but everything was old and so very difficult to tell whether or not it was truly clean. Old rugs in the hallways made it feel dirty same with Old flooring and fixtures in the rooms. No elevators and multiple different levels of wooden staircases that were difficult to maneuver with heavy luggage. The bed was hard as a rock. And I had to parkour to jump into it! The water pressure in the bathroom was horrible and the bathtub was very short. The locks on the doors didn’t feel secure. The check-in process left a lot to be desired. My friend and I, two women, were traveling together and didn’t arrive until 10 PM at night. When we got into the lobby, a gentleman, who was not in our party was behind us while we were checking in. Everything was done audibly while the attendant took all of our personal information, and the man was on his phone behind us. It felt very uncomfortable and when I mentioned to the hotel attendant she said we couldn’t write it on a piece of paper because she has nowhere to throw it away safely. I thought that was ridiculous since she could’ve just handed the paper back to me with my personal information and I could’ve disposed of it. She looked at me like I was nuts for even asking. No regard for the safety of our personal information. My friend and I were staying at the hotel together and had asked for rooms nearby each other, and we were at completely opposite ends of the hotel. Definitely would not stay there again."

"Our toilet broke within 10 minutes of checking in and when I called the front desk they said they didn’t have maintenance and encouraged my husband to fix it if he could. A few minutes later maintenance showed up but had no clue what was the problem so my husband basically had to use his tools to fix it himself. The only “amenity” the ice machine was also broken. If they would just repair some of these outdated things then it would be a nice place to stay."

SCP Mendocino Coast Lodge

10/10 Excellent

"The SCP staff were really fantastic. My girlfriend and I booked a place at the Coast Lodge location. The place was great, and the ocean view was fantastic, but we didn't realize there aren't any trail/path options for walking, and we have an active dog. We asked if we could switch to the Farm location, and the staff went out of their way after hours to move us even though it was difficult because our reservation was through Expedia and not directly with them. They even upgraded us to the cottage location, which was wonderful, at no additional cost (it would have been much more than what we originally paid). If you value nearby trails and beach access without driving, or if you have a dog, go with the Farm location. If you're happy driving to the beach and just want to enjoy fantastic ocean views from the porch on the bluff, go with the Coast Lodge location. We will definitely stay with SCP again in the future."
