"Overall, we were quite satisfied with our stay at Poppies. When we first arrived, I was honestly a little shocked by how small the room was. It was even smaller than I had expected, and the facilities were extremely basic. There was no hair dryer, no microwave, and not even conditioner. The whole place has a very minimalist style, so if you are expecting a traditional hotel room with lots of amenities, this may take some getting used to. However, after staying for a couple of days, we gradually got used to the small space and actually found the hotel quite practical. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which made a big difference. The location also turned out to be more convenient than we initially thought. Bus 391 stops nearby and takes you directly to Zaanse Schans, which was perfect for our day trip to see the windmills. If you are a reasonably fast walker, you can also walk to Amsterdam Central Station in about 25 minutes. Considering the price, especially compared with many hotels in Amsterdam, I think Poppies offers pretty good value for money. The room is definitely very small and the amenities are limited, but if you mainly need a clean, affordable place to sleep and don’t mind a minimalist setup, it’s a good choice. Overall, a pleasant stay and good value for the price."

"The hotel staff was amazing. The restaurant on site is top notch. The only reason I docked a star is because they only have 1 accessible room in the whole hotel. I had accidright right before vacation and was in a boot and wheelchair. The hotel doesn't have a wheelchair accessible entrance. There are 5 large steps to get into the foyer and then 3 more to get into the lobby. I can walk a few steps in the boot so I was able to do it everyday. But if you are unable to walk this is not the place to stay. They did apologize and upgraded our room. I still had to deal with a step into the shower. It wasn't a huge step and I was able to do it, but again if you can't put any pressure on your foot or leg. The manager said there was only 1 room that is accessible. I appreciate all the did and the fan they brought to our room since there is no AC in basement. The fan worked great cooling the room off."

Naomi did a great service of taking my luggage upstairs and room was even ready before check in time. Food at the restaurant was good too. The rooms were clean and the location is perfect. If you do have larger sized luggage, they have a small elevator to get you from street level to reception level which would be the biggest drawback to staying here; however, it is not an issue except when arriving and departing as the hotel itself has normal sized elevators to utilize once on the reception level."
