Friendly and helpful staff make up for uninspiring rooms with fairly basic beds. Breakfast is better in any of the nearby cafes. Nice parking but costs 10Eur / night

The best things about the hotel are its location and the strong air conditioning. However, it needs maintenance to improve the water (my shower fluctuated between hot and cold), electricity (a light randomly shut off), and the general appearance (water damage, rust, and stains in the bathroom).

I was very disappointed with this property. The woman at the front desk who greeted us upon arrival was rude and exceptionally unhelpful. The room was a good size. We had the family room which had 4 twin beds divided between two rooms. The beds were terrible. No padding, just a cover over a spring. There was a bottom sheet and a top sheet and nothing else. There was one blanket provided in the closet but there were four beds. Only Shampoo provided, no conditioner, even when we asked the front desk, there was one tiny, exceptionally thing bath towel and hand towel each. Also, there was a spider in one of the beds. Overall it was not a good experience. We were not expecting anything fancy but we were definitely expecting more than what was provided.

I encountered several issues during my check-in process. The staff member at reception was also responsible for working the bar, which resulted in long queues and a very slow check-in experience. Furthermore, the first two keys I was provided did not work. Each time I had to return to the desk to resolve this, I had to wait for 10 minutes and then 15 minutes respectively. Ultimately, I had to be moved to a different room. On a positive note, I would like to mention that the young man who worked the reception in the evening was super helpful. His ability to speak English was a significant bonus and greatly improved my experience.

Poor sound insulation both inside and outside. You can hear your neighbours snoring all night long and people yelling in the street until past 2am. The staff smoke right outside the property, which drifted into the staircase. Good things included the reduced parking rate and the roll down blinds to help with the street lights outside.

Situated in front of a plaza, it is a fabulous location for walking everywhere. Lots of restaurants and incredible bakeries all around. Beautiful shops. two blocks from bus station. The hotel itself is not new but it is well kept and it is very nice. The rooms are spacious, simple but they have all I needed for relaxing and resting: a small refrigerator, a hairdryer, a good tv. The folks working at reception are very accommodating, professional and friendly. There is a coffee shop in the nice lobby. The room attending service was excellent. It got a bit noisy with a room full of young children next door but it was only for one night. I truly enjoyed my stay at “El Gran Hotel” and I love the city of Vilafranca del Penedes. I will be back.

We hadden 2 kamers geboekt. De ene kamer was schoon en netjes. De andere kamer had een badkamer waar we niet in wilde gaan douchen. De medewerker bij aankomst kon helaas geen engels en wij geen spaans. Een gebrek wellicht aan onze kant. Om gebruik te kunnen maken van de parkeergarage mag je maximaal 2m hoog zijn. Met de dakkoffer die we mee hadden, waren wij te hoog en zochten naar een plek waar we konden parkeren voor de nacht. Dit blijkt zeer moeilijk te zijn in deze stad. Er was een camper parkeerplaats, echter werd deze bewoond door mensen die geen huis meer hadden en dit gaf ons geen gerust gevoel. Wij hebben de dakkoffer eraf gehaald en toch gebruik gemaakt van de beveiligde parkeerplaats via het hotel. Hier reden wij in met de tolbadge, echter om gebruik te maken van het tarief van het hotel heb je een ticket nodig. Rij dus niet naar binnen met de tolbadge is ons advies. Voor een doorreis hotel prima te doen.

Está céntrico, y limpio. Pero sinceramente parece un motel, las camas son enanas, de 90cm probablemente, no te des la vuelta que te caes. No había aire acondicionado y pasamos mucho, mucho calor. Está limpio, pedí ayuda al recepcionista para pedir un taxi y me dijo que no me podía ayudar que investigase yo :( pero la chica de recepción si era simpática y amable.

Nedslidt hotel, underlig beliggenhed og meget lydt. Første værelse jeg fik var helt klart et rygerrum, det stank og vinduerne stod åbne da jeg ankom. Henvendte mig i receptionen og fik at vide at det ikke var et rygerværelse men jeg måtte da gerne få et andet tilsvarende værelse. Det hele virkede meget nedslidt og ikke ret indbydende.
