Don’t count on a cool night

So they advertise that it has air conditioning. While technically it has a unit it can not keep up with the heat if Malta. It’s the equivalent of a little old lady standing in the corner blowing cool air on you. It was often hotter inside than outside. They were communicative in that they confirmed it was working correctly…but then sort of disappeared. It was so hot I slept in the couch to be as close to unit (and only window) as possible. The place was clean (except for some mold in shower which I expected as humid as it is), quiet at night, felt safe.

Bright and quiet

Excellent place, bright, clean, hot water. Had to contact the manager Pedro about a peep peep sound after a brief power outage. He replied Immediately and told me what to do. Quiet area, close to Merchants Street. Highly recommend this place.

This property was great for my family and I. My only complaint was that it was impossible to find. We didn't receive the real address until check in time. Maybe it was our cell service but we we're unable to find the address given. Once we found it, we dropped a pin to remember how to get back each time we left the apartment. Everything else was great- the property helped us with anything we needed such as extra towels and toilet paper.

Comfortable apartment

The apartment was very clean and airy with great air conditioning and spacious rooms. Hairdryer, laundry facilities all good. The door entry systems were easy to use. Communal areas were clean and tidy and all other residents were quiet. The apartment is about a 10 minute walk, with hills / steps to the main bars and restaurants.

The Ursula Suites are away from the constant bustle of the main tourist streets, yet just 4-5 minutes’ walk from the Lower Barrakka Garden,10 minutes from the Gozo & 3 Cities ferries & the main food market; there is a convenience shop nearby. The building has a lift. Our Deluxe studio apartment was well equipped with a full-sized fridge-freezer, oven and ceramic hob, knives, cooking utensils and pans, but no chopping board, so we had to slice bread and chop food on a plate. It also had aircon/heating, a safe and a washing machine – but there were no instructions for operating any of them. When we enquired we were told the safe was broken; when we asked for it to be fixed a.s.a.p. we got no response. Management may not have known the washing machine was also broken, but didn’t respond when we notified them. The thing that concerned us most was security – especially as our safe was not usable. The keys to the building and the individual apartments are chained within key-safes. The security of the building is compromised if another visitor forgets to ‘scramble’ the 4-digit code after accessing the entry key-safe, as happened several times during our stay. Communication with management was tricky and stressful. We didn't receive our access codes before check-in time. We phoned 3 times, got no reply, as did Expedia which resorted to email. Eventually check-in info did appear on our Expedia itinerary page and we got in. Management really needs to operate more effectively.

The room itself was nice. Unfortunately in Malta you need functioning air conditioning. The first room we were given the AC was broken and the second room was just blowing warm air. No resolution offered after the second room.

Room was clean but there were a lot of scented, strong cleaning products used and both of us had reactions. Not serious but reactions. I have to say I had not let people know ahead of time but in North America ‘scent free’ is extremely prevalent

The location of the property was ideal, with easy access to the market and many local restaurants in the area. Unfortunately, the condition of the unit was disappointing. There was noticeable mold, and the smell was overwhelming upon entering. The portable AC unit, combined with the humidity filter, did little to improve the air quality. Additionally, the bathroom pipes showed rust and green staining, which appeared to be mold as well. While the convenience of the location was a plus, the overall upkeep and cleanliness of the unit need significant improvement.

Bien pour l’emplacement

L’emplacement est parfait pour visiter La Valette à pied. La communication est très facile et l’hôte réactif. Le système de clé est très pratique. En revanche, l’état de propreté est à revoir et il faudrait un rafraîchissement, surtout dans la salle de bain (crochets pour accrocher le serviettes arrachés…).

El alojamiento no tenía ventilación, los aparatos de aire acondicionado estaban en el patio posterior, con trastos viejos. Lo peor era la humedad que se respiraba dentro, con paredes mojadas y pintura saltada. Deberían cuidar los detalles de limpieza e higiene porque el precio que se paga no es barato. Como punto a favor, está cerca de todo y es amplio..
