"Great location and lovely rooms. However, arriving at 2020 after a very long day on the Fells, I was told it was not possible to eat, despite the confirmation letter stating that 2100 was the close and that room service was offered until 2130. I was told that it might be possible to get the restaurant to stay open, but I wasn't in a state for a restaurant without at least 15 minutes to shower and change - this was disappointing. If I had been told in advance i could have eaten in Wasdale before driving to them"

"Was extremely amazed by the building beautifull inside well done out. Pool was very nice good sauna and steamroom. However i was disappointed with breakfast. I love a buffet breakfast but it was described on expedia as a "free breakfast" not "breakfast included" the difference was a extremely limited one table continental breakfast and a menue order for a cooked breakfast. Further disappointed by the size one extremely small sausage 2 bacon tiny tiny cup of baked beans with eg ect, not a cumbria breakfast i was hoping for. The room was beautiful cant pont any problems apart from been very load and was next to courtyard and could here staff through out the night. I would stay again however i will be expecting a small free breakfast and will be changing to another room."

"We stayed for 2 nights with our 6 year old in a Fabulous room. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The room was nice but it was abit tired and could do with a refresh. There was an awful smell in our room which we didn't notice until we closed the window but it seemed to be coming from the carpet. And we did notice alot of damp patches on ceilings and wallsas we were leaving. All in all it was ok but if we had paid full price for the room (we booked on a deal) I would have been extremely disappointed. It didnt live up to up the luxury standard they advertise on instagram or even compared to some of the 'Fabulous Rooms' they advertise on their website as being bright and airy. The room was over looking the river though which was lovley and the facilities in the room were more than adequate. The bed was comfortable and the trundle bed they set up for our 6 year old was perfectly fine. We ate in the onsite restaurants both nights. One restaurant is the Swan Inn which is more pub type food and the other is the Brasserie which is more restaurant quality. Both are nice but can be quite pricey but haven eaten there before we was expecting this. The only thing I would say is the Vegetarian options on the Pub menu need looking at there isnt much choice. The staff in the hotel were all friendly and generally the hotel has a warm cosy atmosphere. We didnt use the Spa facilities but we did use the family pool which my 6 year old loved. We would stay again but I would"
