I’ve lived in Northern Humboldt County for about three years and College Cove Beach is one of my top five places to hang out in #MyBackyard. Low tide allows tide-pooling at the northern- and southern-most ends of the beach, and during high-surf storms, the trail north of the beach provides a great view of the blowhole.

Agate Beach along the Northern California Coast is accessed through Patrick's Point State Park. The beach is known for its geological gems that can be found in the sand and nearby cliffs. The access to the beach follows a winding trail descending 300 feet from the parking and the interesting aspect is that there are signs that inform that any rocks, gems, or driftwood that can be carried out is allowed. The catch is that one needs to haul the finds back up the hill. The beach has 2 miles to rock hound. Lynn and I spent much of the day here, found many beautiful stones and polished some back at home.
