I liked that it was easy to get to from Union Station to the hotel. The staff were great when we arrived so late in the evening. The room was good and quiet. Looking forward to staying again.

Picked this hotel on location and price. The lobby is nice. Elevator was screeching on the way down and they would turn it off at night due to the noise. Had to climb up 7 flights to our room. Room upon entry reeked of cigarettes. Bed was fine. No mirror anywhere in room beyond above sink. Towel on bed upon arrival. Dirty with makeup stains. For turndown service did not get fresh towels. TV was not working. Room was very basic.

Great location in downtown Toronto. Only complaint would be that the lift is so noisy: doesn’t fill you with confidence going up to your room. Staff friendly and polite.

First, I'll list the things that we found annoying, but weren't dealbreakers: - No microwave in the double queen room - No in-room coffee either, when that was on the room description (there was a gooseneck kettle and tea available) - The shower showed its age taking forever to go from way too cold to way too hot and then getting to a sweet spot - We didn't have any face cloths provided to us past the first day - It would be nice for there to be a system for ordering room service, with such a nice bar and kitchen set-up - The air conditioning in the room was on when it didn't really need to be, which led to it turning on and off every few minutes, which made getting to sleep without earplugs frustrating Things that were great: - I was nervous about getting the breakfast package through Expedia, but it turned out to be an AWESOME deal. They recently updated the breakfast menu, and you really can't go wrong with any of the choices. It would be nice to see some veggie substitutions available, like avocado on the eggs benedict. - The staff was generally awesome. They seem to have a good rotation going, and we only had one server who seemed a bit slow on the uptake. The bartender one evening was especially sweet and helpful. - The location is impossible to beat. Right close to the Subway, just down the way from the Eaton's Centre, and important for travellers: super close to Union station. - The interior design of the hotel is impeccable. It's a beautiful spot to stay and chat.

The Lobby is adorable with comfy couches, and the check-in desk is also a bar! Very unique. But when we got back to the hotel just past midnight there was a note that due to elevator noise, guests must use the stairs after 11. We laughed and got a jump on our step count for the next day, but I can imagine this could be an issues for others.

The hotel is dated but that is equally the charm of this place. There are pros and cons so read in entirety for balanced review. The hotel is well situated downtown and easy access to Union Station where you can take the UP train to and from the airport. The rooms are basic and it would be nice if there was a shelf in the room to put your clothes in. I had to use the window sill and there certainly is room for something like an IKEA floor shelf. There is no fridge in the room and if you want ice for the ice bucket, you need to go to the basement as that is where the ice machine was. Unfortunately, the elevator is also dated and while there, was making this very loud squeaky noise. I was not worried about safety but more at night how the noise was very loud and difficult to sleep. For what I did really enjoy, I did speak with front staff and they were amazing. Aisha (spelling) was very understanding and moved me to the top floor and then the elevator noise was barely noticeable. Staff there are great and friendly. Added to that, the restaurant has a great selection of Middle Eastern food and I greatly enjoyed the chicken skewer (recommended by a few staff members) Overall, the Victoria Hotel is not as expensive as many of the Toronto hotels. It is in a well placed location with many restaurants and a lot of sites walking distance. I also like that it is close to Union Station. Be prepared that it is an old hotel and there are some blemishes but it is value for your money.
