"I didn’t plant to stay in Takaoka but the bus from Shirakawa-go was fully booked to Kanazawa.
It was very good as the bus stopped the right in front of this hotel.
There is a onsen style public bath which made me relax. The room was alright (not too bad). I explored some streets where old Japanese houses are well preserved.
However, Takaoka is now a bit sad as local shops have been closed down as there is a big shopping mall near Shin-Takaoka where Shinkansen stops. "
"I thought the property was nice and close to Takaoka station. The room was pretty big compared to the average Japanese hotel, but the room chair for the desk was a simple stool. If you are someone who likes to go shopping at a grocery store for food, the nearest one was about 15-20 minute walk away. Not much was happening around this area, it didn't seem to offer much in tourist attractions, besides a few statues. If you are using it as a base to explore Toyama through Kanazawa, it's not too...
"This was a beautiful experience, it felt like a real Japanese lifestyle, the owners were very serviceable and so sweet, it is a genuine place, not like a modern ryokan, this was the real deal"
