The patio onsen had a beautiful view of a well-cared garden and was a very nice place to pass the time. There isn't much else to do directly at the hotel unless you take a bus or taxi into Nara, but that really forced us to let go and relax. "

"Wakasa Bettei surprised me as one of my favorite hotels in my 8-day Japan trip. I think it came down to the fact that the premises were cozy and new, the location was serene and close to Todaiji, and the staff were just so friendly. Absolutely gorgeous meals for dinner kaiseki and Japanese-style breakfast too. There's a goofy charm in having a violinist serenade us during dinner, and offering to take photos of us in our ukatas smiling next to their mascot. Both public bath options they offered...

"Like walking into a 70s movie. Dirty carpets and terrible (western) breakfast did not match the price point. Nice staff and location are indeed a plus but not nearly enough to warrant a return visit. "

"The owner was very nice and tried her hardest to speak English which she didn’t have to do but was very appreciated. The room was beautiful, very traditional and really gave us an authentic Japanese experience. The only issues were it was inaccessible for those with disabilities, there’s not really ramps in ikoma, at least the route we took, we also has to walk down stairs to get to our room, there wasn’t an elevator. The only other thing was that we had a basement 2 room, which wasn’t bad but...

"大浴場とあったので、このホテルを選びましたが、実際は、大浴場と中規模(５～７名)があって、日によって男性用と女性用になるようでした。　宿泊した日は、中規模だったので、大浴場の規模はわかりません。 夕食は外のプランでしたので、フロントに案内を求めましたがあまり答えてもらえず、仕方なく自分で調べていきました。太鼓橋を渡ったところに飲食店が複数あってとても良い場所でした。ほかの宿泊者がいなかったので、とても静かに過ごせました。"
