"I stayed overnight with my wife and son. It was one of the best hotel experiences I have had in Taiwan. The room itself was adequate - clean, well equipped and comfortable. However, it is the public spaces and amenities which really shine in this hostel/hotel hybrid. The location is also very central to the Western District of Tainan. Overall, it was a great experience. "We had a very comfortable stay at the Shangri-La. The room was really spacious, and we had a terrific view. The front desk and concierge staff were very gracious and helpful. Also, we had New Year’s Eve dinner at the hotel’s Shanghai Pavilion at the top of the hotel. Our waiter (who I think is the manager) helped us make our selections, and it was fantastic! The hotel is also attached to an upscale department store which is fun to visit. It The hotel is also across the street from the local train station. You can take a fairly short ride to Kaohsiung, which is a cool harbor town and perfect for a day trip."
