"We were not advised that the kitchen was closed throughout our stay which was inconvenient. The property was not in good condition, particularly the bathroom. Nice location. Great staff. Quality has dropped since our last visit 12 months ago."

"Lovely, clean and well kept hotel. The room was a very good size, as was the bathroom. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was great, with good amounts of choice. Parking was free but not overly well signposted (as the entrance to the car park seems to have been relocated due to the new tearoom coming soon). If you drive past the hotel and go down the first road on the left, take another left and the car park is just there. Would definitely stay here again."

"Initial impression- good. Car park all gravel but plenty of parking. Reception - water on offer but it was empty. Were told our booking didn’t include breakfast but included 20% off food and soft drinks. Nice because we had forgotten. No information on where restaurant or bars not a big problem but it is nice to be told. We booked a table for dinner. Was given our room key. We asked if it was possible to walk along the river from the back of the restaurant… no access it is only from the other...

"I recently stayed at this venue and found it very pleasant. The room was clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed that made for a restful night’s sleep. The location was convenient, with the venue nearby, making it easy to get around. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, which added to the enjoyable experience."

"I had a room booked for me and I am disabled ,so a while later rang to make sure it was accessible and had to pay extra(disability discrimination?) on arrival was assured it was a “deluxe room” .The bathroom was run down with copious mould ,dust from quite a while built up on skirting boards ,and behind bed heads. Dirty crumpled paper under mattress topper?,milk and drink accessories not topped up daily . Picnic tables 6 ft from room windows so very noisy at night. Dead plants and plastic flower...

"The room was large, bright and clean with the added bonus of a fan. Staff were polite and helpful. Evening meal was superb. If we are in Harpenden again we will definitely stay here again."
