We had a wonderful stay and would happily recommend this place. The property was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. Communication was easy, and everything we needed was provided. The location was excellent, especially for anyone new to the city. It made getting around simple and provided convenient access to many of the area's attractions, restaurants, and neighborhoods. Overall, a great experience and a perfect home base for exploring the city.

So the positives, the hotel itself was very nice, the food was a good standard, and the staff for the most part were excellent. The upgrade we received, along with the bottle of wine as compensation for the issues below were greatly appreciated. If not for these issues, I would certainly recommend this hotel. However, unfortunately the two days that we spent at the Palace Gate were marred by a large male party celebrating a 40th birthday. Regrettably the management/staff had no idea how to address the poor behaviour and therefore did nothing. There was no consideration by this party of other guests, and as the behaviour and noise went unchecked (drinking heavily ftom 9 a.m.) it basically ruined the peaceful environment. In short management and staff need to be trained in how to act in such circumstances, as clearly they have not been.
