I loved this place. Very convenient, super clean and comfortable inside, and Helga was fun to talk to and gave me some great local tips. I will be back for sure, highly recommended!
Friendly staff that welcomed us on arrival and made sure we were settled away, also pointed out some great options for dinner. The cabins were so cozy with all the amenities you could need. We were sad we only stayed for one night. We highly recommend staying here!
We loved our stay at Herring House. Cozy, comfortable, well appointed, lots of amenities and very gracious and helpful hosts. Our best stay in Iceland so far. Highly recommend!
The location was excellent. Close to the town Square. Helga was very nice and provided a town map and information on town events. Beds were very comfortable. Pretty location.
This is the best stay we had in Iceland during a 12-day trip: every thoughtful detail was considered in the private cabin we stayed in and the hosts were welcoming and wonderful. We never wanted to leave this retreat. The hot tub was filled just for us and the host brought us warm cheese and bread in the morning. Incredible view of the fjord, excellent local knowledge and tips provided (in a detailed notebook), would absolutely stay again in the cozy cabin retreat! Loved this place, highly recommend.
Their private cottage is our favorite stay on our road trip across Iceland, even compared with the other four-star hotels we stayed at. In the summer, greens and a breathtaking view of the snow mountains surround the cottage. The room is clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. The hosts are very welcoming, too.
The only pity is that we could not use the outdoor shower facility, as we happened to catch a cold on our trip. Still, we wish we had stayed at this place a bit longer!
Of the 4 places we stayed when we took our 11 day trip around the country, this was our favourite. The little cabin with the outdoor shower and hot tub was perfect. The owners - Helga and Dagur were perfect. The town was perfect. The epic beautiful falls on the edge of town were perfect. The hiking trails going up the mountain were perfect. The cute fat kitty we met when we were walking around the town was perfect. When we packed up to leave from the Herring House, my wife and I said to each other that we'd be back. Can't wait to spend more time in this beautiful town!
The proprietor, Helga, was super-nice and helpful. She told us all about the history of the little town and what to expect on our drive around Iceland. The room was comfortable, with a truly spectacular view out the front window. But be aware: there are four bedrooms, and there's only ONE bathroom! We were fortunate to be the only couple there that night, but otherwise, contention for the bathroom would have been a hassle.
Siglufjordur and the cabin at Herring House was by far our favourite stay on Ring Road! Helga and Dagur were so welcoming, offering great suggestions for hiking, restaurants and all the attractions of the area. They were always quick to respond and also offered up great tips for viewing the midnight sun and generously filled the hot tub for us each night. The cabin was beautifully designed, super cozy and had a private location hillside overlooking Siglufjordur. We really enjoyed morning coffees and the spectacular views from the front porch. Siglufjordur was on our list originally because of Ragnar Jónasson’s novels and the Netflix tv series Trapped, but besides that it is such a charming place. We hope to be back!
The accommodations were exactly as advertised. Our cabin was cozy and everything that we could possibly have needed for a two night stay was there for us to use. The owners are awesome hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our chats with them.
