"A beautiful stay and wonderful onsen- we opted for a private onsen thankfully as we were never able to get into one of the three private public onsens on site over the course of two days. Note that the area is stunning and very hilly- local restaurants etc close very early and/or have odd days they are open if you venture out. "

"We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable with a beautiful view of Lake Ashi. The location is lovely albeit a bit more secluded/farther away, right by the lake, with Mount Fuji visible on clear days. The hotel feels a bit dated (think 70s charm) but is well maintained and slightly upscale. There’s a free shuttle to Odawara Station, but taxis must be booked in advance through the hotel. The dinner buffet was solid—good variety and tasty food. Nearby attractions include Hakone’s small aquarium and zoo (about 5 minutes away), and the famous floating torii gate and shrine, which is around a 20-minute walk through the woods. Go early—the lines get long!"

" Very good value. Room was clean and fairly large. Right by the station and included a satisfying breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly."

"A delightful cabin next to the lake with views of Mount Fuji (although our ground floor apartment had restricted views because of the trees - but not all ground floor apartments had this problem). The hot spring bath and foot spa were utterly delightful though and the projector was a nice touch to relax after a day of walking, even if I would have rather been looking at Fuji, my daughter loved it. "

"A pleasant and reliable stay. The hotel feels a little older in style but is clean, comfortable, and well kept, with friendly and professional staff. I liked the quiet ground-floor entrance that leads straight to the elevators, with reception on the second floor. There are no laundry facilities, which for me was a bit of a downside since I’ve been hiking from city to city and rely on being able to wash clothes regularly. It’s a short walk to the station and nightlife, and the view of the city with Mount Fuji in the background is beautiful. I would happily stay here again."
