Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The continental breakfast provided was very good. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They kept the bathrooms clean. The room was adequate. The location is close to the golden circle.
Very basic hostel style setup. No extra amenities. Shared bathrooms which are generally clean. Hard to find someone to help if you have issues. Lonely location with nothing nearby. Breakfast is included and it's basic stuff but welcome nevertheless.
The hotel is a bit far , close to national park. But the kitchen has everything. We got groceries on the way to the hotel and had the best cooking experience in our 10 days trip of Iceland. The communal bathroom is fine. Toilet paper was not restocked in time but you can ask. A relaxing place. Give us a feeling of belonging to the community . Nice stay anyway.
Clean and very easy to check in and out. Very nice open area to dry tents and gear. Wonderful breakfast. A bargain for the price per night. I would definitely plan to stay here again.
Not a lot of airflow in the building. Very limited washrrooms, toilets and showers made things tough. Staff was nice and helpful, room was big and clean and breakfast was good.
Even though this is a self-check in hotel, but the staff replied to my message very quick, and later I needed to find things they helped. The staff are polite and nice young people. The whole building is very clean, and our room is very spacious, not fancy but neat. I like their dining room too, spacious and neat, with the meaningful pictures. The breakfast was included and had fresh strawberries and blueberries which was more than we expected.
This guest house has basic rooms inside of an old school building. The room that we stayed in had room for 6 people to sleep. There are shared bathrooms that are well-maintained. The hotel doesn't have a reception area, but we received an email with information about how to access our room. The breakfast in the morning was really the highlight of our stay. It's a lovely buffet with fresh fruit, cheese, meat, breads and yogurt. Everything was fresh and tasty. With fresh food being at a premium in Iceland, the buffet almost felt extravagant. The hotel is conveniently located to Selfoss and the main attractions in the Golden Circle.
I'm going to quote from an email I received from Ljosafoss Guesthouse after my plane landed in Iceland at 7pm the day I was to check in.
Exact copy and paste.
Dear Richard, I sent you a message in the morning. We had to cancel your reservation due to overbooking. Best regards, Klaudia
Never book with this guest house. You never know if you actually have a room.
Thanks
The price we paid for this place was absolutely ludicrous! EUR 172 for a room with no bathroom, and only a shared toilet similar to what you would find on a school! I don't even know where the bathroom was, but I heard that there was no hot water. No service of any kind. It was basically a bed and a piece of toast in the morning. We had booked two nights, but already the first evening I found another place to stay for the next night. It was cheaper, but much, much higher standard. This place is a complete rip-off!
