A city trip to Schwaigwill lead you to the gates of Nuremberg located on the idyllic Pegnitz River with its protected flood plains and into a historical city with a number of fascinating sights.
Schwaig, first mentioned in records in 1360, has existed within its current city limits since the year 1976. It lies on the eastern border of Nuremberg, has a population of approximately 8,400 and consists of three districts. While on your city trip to Schwaig, be sure to visit the Schwaig Castle. The best way to get to know the city and its surroundings is a hike on the circular route Pegnitztal-Rundweg. Start your 4-mile trip in the parking lot of the public swimming pool. The Schwaiger Schloss castle is located somewhat off the main path. However, the small detour to the manor dating back to the 16th century is fully worth it. The building with its three stories and its stair tower have become an impressive setting for many events. The yearly castle festival in particular draws a number of guests.
Having arrived back at the starting point, make a visit to the public indoor and outdoor pool “Pegnitzaue”. On the inside, a 25-yard pool, a children’s paddling pool and a relaxation area in the winter garden await. The outside pool impresses with a white water canal, massage jets and water beds. A walk through the Kneipp water-treading basin will rejuvenate your body. A children’s pool and a playground are available for the smallest guests to enjoy while on a short trip to Schwaig.
Especially active guests will enjoy a visit to the Nordic Walking Park Schwaig. Four circular routes of various distances and degrees of difficulty will help you keep fit. They are connected with the Nuremberg Tierpark routes and offer you more than 30 miles of signposted paths altogether.
