Having just spent two nights at this wonderful hotel I can easily understand why just about every review here is 10 out o10. This is a fantastic almost perfect hotel. The owners, a sweet young married couple, are clearly utterly devoted to this hotel and every touch has their signature. The stay was perfect, the room wonderful, cozy and comfortable and they cannot do enough for you. 11 out of 10!

Gorgeous property -- loved the authentic early-20th century architecture and decor, and yet modern bathrooms. Our room was enormous!!! A bit far for walking to the center of town, but very quiet and peaceful. Unique!

Worth every penny. Beautiful surroundings, kind and welcoming staff. We stayed here for our silver wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. There is no restaurant for evening meals but there are loads of great restaurants in town which are within walking distance. Thank you for a memorable stay.

Our beautifully appointed suite was missing two major pieces for a perfect stay. When the suite was initially booked back in January, it was listed as having air conditioning. It did not. There were 2 very noisy portable cold air fan machines placed in our suite. They were noisy and not able to regulate a controlled temperature. Thus, our sleep was very difficult. The hotel breakfast was not included in our room plan and when I pointed out to the Manager of the hotel that air conditioning was advertised she challenged me and as soon as I brought up the property on Expedia to show her, she apologized and offered us free breakfast daily. She explained that air conditioning and screens on the windows are planned for early next year. Other than that major issue, our stay was lovely. There is secured car parking. And the 129 year old chateau is beautiful with old world charm. The morning breakfast is also excellent. The rooms do have maintenance issues. But once the ownership takes great care to eradicate them, they will have a perfect property.

WOW, what an amazing place! We stayed for one night as part of a big birthday celebrations, but wish we’d stayed longer. It’s absolutely beautiful. Staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Luxurious hotel and gardens

This was truly a gem within walking distance to the town centre. We adored the gardens, lobby and resting areas, and the spacious room and the pool. The interior furnishings were luxurious. The owners have great pride in the place and attention to detail shows at every corner. The only letdown was the small number of staff, that impacts the service a bit. Still it is excellent value nd recommend to stay more than a couple days to truly enjoy the place.

Incredibly stay in a real Chateau!

This was an absolute DREAM! What a beautiful hotel. It did not feel like a hotel, it was more of a luxury bed and breakfast. It is a true chateau in the heart of the city and it is just beautiful. The town of Saumur is only a 5 min walk away. It is also only 5 min walk to the main city mall. The rooms are so clean and cozy and the staff is so wonderful especially Ines. She was so kind and helpful. Every room is so special and the chateau is so fun to explore. The spa in the hotel is just the icing on the cake. If you are a hotel guest it is free to use the amenities for one hour each day. It was truly so special and the best stay.

Gem in the heart of Saumur

We had a wonderful stay at the Chateau de la Marquise. The property is beautiful and the details of the decor were very appreciated. There is a mix of modern and antiquity, from the excellent (and discrete!) speaker system throughout the property, to the carefully curated vintage pieces around the chateau. We had the opportunity to meet the owner, Jeremy, who was extremely attentive and eager to ensure that we were enjoying our stay. The property is beautiful, great pool, scenic views, and good location. We were about 10 minutes walking by from the center of town, which makes it nice if you don’t want to drive. Overall fabulous stay, we hope to be back soon!
