Lovely place, a beautiful older Costa Rican style wooden building. Rooms are not very spacious, but there are common spaces to enjoy. Good local food, and the staff are all very kind and helpful. Great region to explore.
We enjoyed our stay for 2 nights in a friendly, family environment. Close to grocery and souvenir shopping. Also close to Santa Rosa National Park and other natural areas and beaches.
We loved our stay at the Santa Elena Lodge. It was comfortable, clean, historical, and charming. The dinner and breakfast food was delicious. We would come back with the whole family next time!

Liked: Cleanliness
Personalized attention by the owners make a difference. Well located place.
The room was clean and comfortable, it had all the items we needed. The location was great to explore various beaches around the area (we visited 8 or 9 but there are over 40!). Food was really good and service was incredible. Don Manuel and his family are great hosts.
This is very friendly family run hotel. The lodge may be a little old, but it has charm and is kept very clean. The hosts are welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended.

Santa Elena Lodge in northern Costa Rica
Lovely lodge off the beaten path. Owners accommodating and very friendly. Located near several beaches and nature reserves. Breakfast included was mediocre.
Not many choices in the area, there is a Super Compro grocery store directly next door. Seafood Restaurant on the oposite side and this place is clean safe and quiet. Staff very pleasant.
Manuel and his family run a lovely homey lodge, and they were super friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable, immaculate and spacious and the air conditioning and room darkening shades were a pleasant surprise —we slept so well! This is a very unique and personal quality accommodation. I would definitely go back. The lodge has a lot of style and you will feel well cared for.
What a slice of paradise! Rooms, staff, hotel facilities were fantastic and run by a Costa Rican familyas described and pictured. Excellent if you’d like an out-of-the-way place from the crowds, this area is absolutely perfect.
Wonderful owner and his family cared for us during our stay in this wonderful hand crafted place with beautiful woodwork and friendly caring staff. Room was nice, clean and beds were comfortable. Service and food were excellent and the staff were very helpful with ideas about fun things to do in the area. Definitely want to come back soon and spend more time!
