The hotel is nice and comfortable. The very special staff, especially Matteo. The problem is the bed, which was very hard.

We had a great stay in this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They own a winery down the street and sent us there for a complimentary tasting. The winery is run by the family and they were very fun and informative. The hotel breakfast was very nice. Their baked goods were fresh and delicious. They could refresh their eggs, as I did receive a rotten one and the coffee always tasted burnt which may just need a cleaning on the coffee maker. The rooms were small but decorated nicely and very clean. The location was a short drive to San Gimignano, which had nice restaurants and shopping. I do believe they were under construction because I had workers on the roof outside of the bedroom window. Could use some better drapes for the privacy. Overall it was a very nice stay.

Great boutique hotel in the middle of Tuscany. Wonderful views. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We really loved the complimentary wine tasting at their nearby winery! We only wish their rooftop deck would’ve been open for even better views. The hotel and winery are family owned and it’s very clear that they value every guest!

Lovely family and great vinyard down the road

Fantastic hospitality and service. We booked a one night stay (very late as we were at the superb vineyard down the road and arrived after just 2 hours later) but this was no trouble. We were greeted first by the owner's lovely daughter and then the owner who made us feel welcome immediately. The room was basic but very clean and pretty. A nice touch to be able to buy beer, wine, snacks etc. out of hours from the large 'minibar' fridge in the hall ir local chianti in the room. The breakfast was very nice....the home made sponge cake was a highlight! I could eat that every day. Hope to go back one day. Thanks!

proprietor charming, breakfast generous, room pleasant. two problems: dsl internet extremely unreliable due to carrier problems, and air con is on a timer so may not be available when you want it. it's off during bizarre hours 1am to 7am, maybe noon to 4pm? hotel is directly on road to st gim so passing traffic can be loud. overall, we liked it.

Highly recommended! Could not ask for better service. The accommodation is perfect... clean, comfortable and friendly. The building goes back to the 11th century although renovated to a hotel it has kept much of the original structure (amazing). Elio and Alexandria are absolutely the best hosts, you cannot help but be sad to leave. When our rental car company failed to deliver our car Elio came to pick us up at the train station and arranged for a car rental in San Gimignano for us and drove us there the next day to get the car. (Saved our stay in San Gimignano) Breakfast is homemade and could not be better. Elio made us dinner the night we arrived and it was delicious. A great big thank you to Elio, we are so glad to have met you.

Romantic place

Super quiet, romantic, cosy hotel in a picturesque place. We loved an incredible view from terrace. Our host was very friendly. That was our best stay of all trip by Italy. Definitely will stay here again!

Charming bnb in pretty location. Elio, the owner and host, is always so kind and gracious. Lovely, generous breakfast including some of their homemade breakfast cakes and slice of homemade pizza! Room, and it’s en-suite, good size. Practical location close by for San Gimignano, and Volterra scenic half hr away and worth it. Very glad we stayed here!

A Tuscan Gem

Don’t let the somewhat beaten-up outside of the building put you off from booking this place. Its history is part of the charm. The inside common areas were quaint; my bedroom and private bathroom were spotless; the included breakfast was much better than average for Italy; the views of the vineyard and rolling hills were worthy of a FaceBook post; and the host was charming and very helpful. The only drawbacks, which for me were quite minor, were that the heat seemed to be on a timer and the refrigerator in the lobby with soda, water, and wine for purchase were lukewarm. If you drink red, that shouldn’t be a problem! San Gimignano is a 15-minute car ride away as well. I highly recommend the Hotel Vecchio Asilo for a genuine Tuscan experience.

Como en casa

Desde que llegas a este pequeño hotel de la Toscana Elio te hace sentir como en casa, el desayuno casero está buenísimo con su brusccheta o pizza, su fruta cortada, dulces caseros... Una delicia. Aunque no es un restaurante, te pueden preparar de cena pizza, pasta.. ideal para recuperarse tras un largo día de caminatas por la zona. Situado en un precioso entorno de la Toscana, situado en un punto estratégico para visitar todos los pueblos de la zona Lo recomiendo con los ojos cerrados.

Excelente hotel próximo a San Gimignano.

Ao chegar ao hotel, vi uma placa na porta de entrada, indicando classificação do hotel de uma estrela. Achei estranho, pois as fotos do site, davam a entender que era um hotel com melhor classificação. Fui recebido pelo proprietário, Sr. Hélio, que autorizou o check-in mesmo chegando com 3 horas de antecedência. O hotel possui estacionamento e como eu estava de carro, foi fator determinante para minha estadia próxima a San Gimignano. Ao entrar no quarto, uma boa surpresa. Banheiro com banheira, quarto espaçoso e muito bem docorado. Chuveiro ótimo, amenidades de banheiro de boa qualidade. Colchão, travesseiros e roupa de cama limpos e de boa qualidade. Qualidade de sono muito boa. Silêncio absoluto. Ar condicionado perfeito. No dia seguinte, café da manhã farto, servido pelo próprio Hélio. Bolos e biscoitos feitos em casa. Pão, geléia, suco, café, capuccino, manteiga, queijo, presunto, yogurte. Pizza que tinha acabado de ser feita. Tudo muito bom. O hotel possui uma área externa com mesas e cadeiras que foram colocadas extrategicamente, tendo ao fundo, uma paisagem com parreiras de uvas. Excelente local para tomar um vinho. Sinceramente, o hotel deveria ser qualificado com três estrelas e não com apenas uma, como indicado na porta de entrada. Faltou apenas informar sobre a educação e presteza dos proprietários. Excelente atendimento. Hotel excelente. Indico.

Très bon séjour à San Gimignano ! L hôtel est tenu par un couple très souriant et chaleureux. Le petit déjeuner est excellent et en partie fait maison ! La chambre était bien climatisé mais elle donnait sur la rue, c'était un peu bruyant le matin. Sinon très bien !

Un hermoso hotel en la Toscana!

Espectacular!!! Lamentamos mucho no haber podido estar más tiempo en este hermoso hotel. Es una casa antigua, no muy grande, pero la habitación muy amplia y cómoda. Está decorada de una manera muy especial que desde que llegas sientes la bienvenida! El desayuno preparado por su dueño es definitivamente lo máximo: productos locales y exquisitos. Un paisaje bellísimo, fácil Parqueo. Definitivamente un lugar para disfrutar de la Toscana!

You want to stay here and never leave

The stay was great, the hosts are amazing, the view from the window is worth millions. The room is simple but homey (essentially you're staying in couple's home). Breakfast - to die for, freshly made bruchetta with home made olive oil, fruit, veggies, healthy and nutritious.
