"Le Phenix is in a perfect location in Vieux Lyon -- easy walking distance to the Fourviere funicular, the Roman amphitheatre, and wonderful food all around the streets. I arrived around 9 PM -- the desk clerk attempted to charge me for my pre-paid room -- I had to show him the Expedia app showing my pre-payment. My room was clean but very small and a good thing I'm only 5 ft 6 in or I would have hit my head inside the room! The furnishings were basic. The bed had a distinct list to one side....

"This charming hotel is in an unbeatable location just steps from the river and tons of restaurants. Our room was lovely, with a large window that opened on to the plaza in front of the opera house but when we closed it all sound from outside was deadened completely. Great breakfast. All staff were super friendly and helpful."

It’s about a 15–20 minute walk from the main train station and very close to several supermarkets.
