We stayed at La Taverna for 5 nights in late June. The room was clean, the area was quiet. The swimming pool was perfect, not crowded, and the beach was at a walkable distance. Appreciated the shop and local restaurants nearby. The staff was very helpful. There was a free shuttle to the train station (we visitedTropea). I can recommend La Taverna!

great pool

smooth and nice staying in holiday village. quite near to tropea. we were just passing by and needed a place to stay over night, but we could have spend mote time there, cause pool side was great and not growded (june 2016). 2 different pools and hot jacuzzi. staff was friendly and helpful.

Comfortable mini-apartments. You will need a vehicle as shops and even the beach are not super close. Staff was very friendly and accommodate our very late arrival. We enjoyed our short stay here.

Residence - hotel con piscina ed animazione a 600 metri dal mare circa (utilissimo il servizio navetta frequente ed efficiente). Buoni i pasti (ma si potrebbero migliorare con pochi accorgimenti - soprattutto la colazione). Molto buona invece la cena calabrese a buffet che viene servita il martedi.

Great Value!

I arrived during low season and with fewer guests This hotel was my oasis of calm from London! Family run hotel- all staff kind and welcoming.Soacious Room , basic and very clean.. appreciated a security box and modern TV. Regular and punctual hotel shuttle down the hill to besch. Also walkable. Hotel also close to bus stop for regular shuttle to Tropea. Alberto at front desk was very professional and gave useful advice and tips for the area.- in perfect English! Food wonderful -traditional , large enough portions, lots of fresh fish and seafood. Spectacular pizza. Would return !!

Schönes Apartement mit tollem Ausblick

Ein wirklich empfehlenswertes Hotel! Voralllem ein '4er bilo' da man hier eine große Küche mit 4 Kochfeldern und einen ziemlich großen Balkon mit wunderschönem Blick aufs Meer hat! Zu Fuß ist man in 7min am Strand und drum herum gibt es einige Restaurants. Ich würde allerdings einen Mietwagen empfehlen, da die Infrastruktur ziemlich schlecht ist... Alles in allem ist es ein traumhaftes Urlaubsziel!

Not great but well located

This was a stop over location for us when driving from the Amalfi coast to Sicily. We spend the afternoon at Capo Vaticano which is highly recommended and chose this hotel due to its close proximity to the beach. The hotel itself seems to be past its prime. The matriach did not seem pleased to see us at all but the younger staff was much more helpful. Promised a queen bed but got two singles pushed together unfortunately.

Great atmosphere, good value.

We were looking for good value self-catering accommodation, close to the beaches. The rooms at La Taverna are basic with few 'trimmings' but were clean and fairly spacious. The good sized terrace had beautiful sea views. The air-conditioning was effective and ensured a good night’s sleep. The matrasses were however a little basic and might not work for longer stays or heavier guests. Staff were great, friendly, courteous and very helpful, especially given their limited command of English and our similarly poor Italian. The shared pool was large, clean and with enough space and beds around to cope with demand. The bar and restaurant were good if not great but offered reasonable value. The cost of extra amenities like the pool table, table tennis and washing machine was a little steep and I feel should be reviewed. The frequent shuttle bus to the beach was free and this was welcome, because although not far the road to the beach was very steep. I would definitely recommend for a no frills self-catering holiday in a very beautiful part of Italy.

Fint läge med ett trevligt hotell område med en bra pool. Men det var krav på badmössa i poolen. Vi hade ingen städning på 11 dagar, ingen typ av handdukar ingick. Vi erbjöds att hyra för 10 Euro/person. Toalettpapper fick man gå och be om för att få en rulle. I våra ögon ett knappt två stjärnigt hotell.

overall the accomodation was fair. The large bed turned out to be two singles pushed together which was not expected. however the accomodation was clean & the staff were helpful. The additional 5o euro cleaning charge which is not advertised for the room was a bit of a rip off as it is only cleaned after you have left, not during your stay!

abbiamo soggiornato la prima settimana di luglio 2012 la struttura e' in una posizione fantastica vicini molti punti di interesse , oltre un panorama meraviglioso, immersa in una vegetazione lussureggiante, le stanze o appartamenti sono quasi tutti vista mare. noi abbiamo scelto la mezza pensione, ma se sapevamo avremmo fatto pensione completa si magia in maniera ottimale . i primi giorni noi del nord forse non ci siamo trovati benissimo ma semplicemente per il fatto che si arriva con una mentalita differente, poi si apprezza anche il loro modo piu pacifico di lavorare. ottima lo consigliamo veramente a tutti

OTTIMA SCELTA!!!

Staff gentilissimo e disponibile per qualsiasi cosa. Appartamento molto grande e pulito, vista mare davvero stupenda, a due passi da tutto, con ogni comodità. Ottimo anche il ristorante sia nella qualità che nei prezzi. Le spiagge piu belle sono vicinissime. Torneremo sicuramente in futuro!

Helt ok hotell om man är nöjd med det enkla. Poolen var toppen för barnen, trots badmössetvång. .. Låg ganska bra i förhållande till den enda (röriga) Supermarketen och till stranden var det ju shuttleservice flera gånger om dagen. Mkt fin strand, aningen bråddjupt. Däremot tycker jag kanske inte att man kan kalla sig hotell när varken sänglinne eller handdukar ingår. Vi hade en lägenhet och den var ok köksutrustad, dock ej någon micro. Det fanns heller ingen hårfön eller några köksmöbler inne. Men, jag kan ändå rekommendera detta hotell till barnfamiljer om man tar det för vad det är. Trevlig personal men nästan alla är urusla på engelska! Restaurangen var dock ingen höjdare, men duger!

Det sämsta hotellet jag varit på, med tanke på läget och minst sagt sängen... Vi sov väldigt dåligt hela veckan, man kunde lika gärna sova på golvet. Sen att det är 6-7 km till tropea är en lögn, 12 km är det till tropea... Inte att rekomendera!

La Taverna - Perfect for children

Very nice place, excellent sea view, we could see Sicily at clear weather from our terrace. The restaurant was excellent every time, and the pool area was perfect for children. Full-equipped kitchen in the appartment, and a small supermarket within a few minutes walk. You could also buy fresh vegetables from a local farmer just around the corner. A large supermarket could be found close to the Ricadi train station, approx 20 min walk. With the train, you could go to Tropea in 10 min, only 1 Euro cost per adult. The Taverna hotel offered free lifts to the train station and the beach. The beach was very nice and beautiful, had both sand and rocks. The only cons of La Taverna: The beds were very hard and not comfortable. More, some of the staff, in particular the female staff, should consider their attitude when providing service. They appeared bored and you often got the feeling that you were disturbing them when entering the restaurant or asking something at the reception. Just a smile could help! However, Dario and his brothers were very nice and helpful, they were definitely serviceminded, and thanks to them, our overall impression of this hotel was very good and we recommend it to other guests.
