"My husband and I visit San Diego once or twice a year for a week or two at a time. We love staying on shelter island because of it’s charm and location. Humphrys has always been on our list so we decided to try it this time around. The positive side, the location at the start of shelter island is ideal. Also, the check-in was wonderful and very smooth. We got a junior suite overlooking the bay and the size was great. The property is also beautiful and the heated pool was a plus! The bad… our room was dirty. Sheets were clean and we had fresh towels but the floor in the bathroom was gross. The floor around the toilet had a questionable stained area that was outlined in red. We thought maybe it just was missed but it did not get cleaned for our entire stay. We laid towels on the floor to walk on. Our tub was also clogged. So much so that my 15 minute showers would fill the tub. Our mattress was worn out. Both sides had wells. My husband was so stiff by the end of the week, we drug the mattress into the living room and laid it on the floor for the last night. Normally these kind of things don’t both us. It’s an old hotel, we get it. However, we told the hotel staff about the tub three different times during our 5 night stay. It was never fixed. For the mattress, I asked if there was anything at all that could be done and was told that the mattress couldn’t possibly be worn out because it had just been switched out. I was dismissed. I think there are better options for SI."

"We had an OUTSTANDING stay at the Sentral. EVERY employee was EXTRA friendly. The bed was AMAZING! The location was PERFECT. We LOVED the Cloud 9 Deli across the street and the grocery store around the corner. It was great to have a kitchen to make our coffee and toast in the morning. We enjoyed the balcony. We LOVED this place and HIGHLY recommend it! Book it. You will thank me! 😀"

"The pros for this hotel were that the bed was comfortable, had a view of the bay from my room, good water pressure in the shower, walking distance to multiple restaurants and bars and across the street from a nice running path along the water. Cons were that it’s pretty outdated - hallways and lobbies/common areas had peeling paint; room had old carpeting and lights out in the bathroom and lumpy pillows. It’s also fairly loud - could hear cars on the street (from 6th floor), planes taking off and landing, and people moving around in rooms next to and above me"
