This was just an overnight stay in the provincial capital to meet friends for dinner and hang out a bit, as our home is about 30km away from town. The hotel is decent, a bit dated in design and décor but clean and like most Phayao hotels very inexpensive by Western standards. There are shops and a few small restaurants in the immediate area, and the Kwan Phayao lakefront is almost walking distance, though we didn't go to the lake as recent flooding in the area meant some restaurants were closed. In the hotel itself, the pool was closed for renovations, which was disappointing; the fitness center was open, and fairly large and well equipped. Breakfast was included but nothing really to "write home about."

Bathroom in need of attention

Exterior of the building was very appealing. The lobby very welcoming. The frontdesk people were outstanding. Check in was a issue free. The room was neat and clean. The view of the lake from the 9th floor was incredible. Everything was in good working order except for one of the night stand lamps. It worked however the socket was broken and the lamp shade was askewed. Then there is the bathroom which is in serious need of updating. My review would have been at least a 4 but the bathroom condition dropped it to a 3. The hotel had a nice breakfast buffet. Not hugh, but enough to make anyone happy. Check out was easy, returned the key to the front and on my way.

Fint gammel hotel i midten af Phayao. Hotellet er ikke ny mere, hvilket kan ses, men det har charme. Værelserne er dejlig store og sengen komfortabelt. Et rigtig godt udstyret fitnesscenter. Vi kommer igen.

Faire Preis-Leistung für kurze Aufenthalte

Das Phayao Gateway Hotel in Phayao ist ruhig gelegen. Das Zimmer (Superior Twin) war groß aber sehr schlicht und deutlich abgewohnt. Die Betten sind etwas durchgelegen. Sauberkeit und Aufgeräumtheit im ganzen Hotel könnten besser sein. Das Fitnessstudio ist ausgezeichnet. Das Frühstück war okay, ausgestattet mit dem nötigsten. Es gibt ausreichend Parkplätze auf dem Hotelgelände. Gemessen am extrem niedrigen Preis ist die Leistung okay und wir können das Hotel für kurze Aufenthalte ohne Komfort-Ansprüche empfehlen.

Wohlfühl Atmosphäre

Mein erster Besuch in Thailand und ich wurde so herzlich willkommen geheissen. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Zimmer das ich bekam war eher ein altes noch nicht renoviertes Zimmer aber ich fühlte mich sehr wohl darin. Die Zimmer wurden täglich gereinigt und das gesamte Personal war sehr freundlich zu mir. Das Frühstück war stehts asiatisch und sehr schmackhaft. Ich danke dem ganzem Gateway Team für die schöne Zeit🙏☺️🎙️🎼🎶

Location only redeeming feature

This is the only place near to bus station . There are strangely no taxis in Phayao . other hotels are a long walk away . Room was just OK . Bathwater only lukewarm . No English TV channels . Breakfast choices are v. limited & mediocre - strictly Asian . it is a long walk to lakefront entertainment area .

Surprising Gem

The Phayao Gateway is probably the most well known hotel in Muang Phayao. The hotel is 10 stories tall with rooms starting on 5th floor. Snooker, massage, outdoor swimming pool, and a workout area are located on 4th floor. Rooms have a mini fridge, satellite TV, AC, and bathtub/shower combo. Fair warning about the shower head: it is really low (I'm 6'4" (196cm) and have to kneel to take a shower). It is a little strange that they have a higher price point for a room with a double bed than a room with two twin size beds. They offer the standard international buffet breakfast, and sometimes have an egg station. The offer free wifi as well. Lunch/dinner are served in the same area and seem popular and affordable, but I didn't sample them. The hotel has convenient access to the lakefront with a 10-15 minute walk. There are shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity and the bus station is next door to the hotel. I would compare this hotel favorably to the Topland Hotel in Phitsanulok, but without the attached shopping mall and late night noise from the disco. For the price as well, you could do significantly worse. Overall, this hotel was quite lovely and above my expectations considering that it is not generally geared for Western tourists.

욕실 시설이 가장 안좋았습니다. 시설도 오래되고 불편했습니다. 물을 끓일 수 있는 커피포트가 없어 불편하고, 티비 리모콘은 작동이 되지 않았습니다. 컨센트도 거의없어 충전이나 기기 사용이 불편했습니다. 전등을 켜고 끄는 것도 불편하였습니다.

Nice spacious room and ok view of the lake. Hotel looks a bit run down and has a perversion with plywood, which they out everywhere - even as table no. in restaurant. No hurrays for the breakfast, maybe because low season.

Mittelklassehotel, gut, ausser den Matratzen

Alles ganz gut, bis auf ein paar Kleinigkeiten: Rauchverbot und kein Balkon, Badewanne zu klein und kein heisses Wasser, Matratze und Kopfkissen bretthart, WLAN zeitweise ausgefallen. Dusche lässt sich beim Befüllen der Wanne nicht abschalten, naja wen stört das schon Frühstück war ok, Personal freundlich und das Zimmer gross und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, tolle Aussicht auf den See, würde wieder dort buchen. Der Pool ist auf der Nordseite und im Januar sehr kühl. grosses Fitnesscenter.
