"The room was excellent with a huge bathroom. All staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was extremely good value and very tasty. In fact I would definitely recommend the place, for anyone visiting Bombay Sapphire, as we did. Overton is a very friendly and interesting little village. "

"Breakfast needs more choice especially the fruit, the pears were hard as rock, no bananas, no fruit salad. No beans for ages, they need to keep an eye on the hotplates. Invest in a coffee machine so there's a variety. Maybe also a bell at the downstairs bar. "

"The hotel, pub was absolutely perfect. The staff were excellent especially Tarik excuse me if not spelt correctly. All staff were extremely attentive. Room was so cozy, a little in the warm side but we didn’t see the thermostat as slightly hidden. We ate at the pub on Friday, food, drinks all excellent. Breakfast was fresh and hot. We will definitely be back."

"If you are looking for an elegant, historic, clean yet simple stay then this is the hotel for you in Winchester. The old building is beautiful inside and out. The staff are very friendly and also very helpful. This was the first time we were travelling with our 4 month old baby and the staff were very accommodating (all staff were but the name Lynn is the one I remember) and helped us store our pram safely without havingto carry it up the stairs several times per day. "On arrival at the Hawk Inn I was greeted in a very polite and friendly manner. Booking in was extremely simple, I love the express booking in before arrival. My room was lovely, clean, warm and comfortable. Nice touches such as mini fridge for drinking water and some fresh milk instead of little milk jiggers. And delicious homemade shortbread instead of plastic wrapped mini selection. There was also a nespresso machine in case you didn’t fancy the instant type plus tea bags. Bathroom had a great...

"I arrived a day early by accident 😬 but the staff were amazing and changed my day for me which i was truly grateful for. The room was spotless with a heater, fan, iron, hairdryer, kettle etc... I had a lovely evening swim in the heated pool. I didn't eat there as i was with my 13 year old daughter so we went to the nearby shopping center for food and a mooch around but the food at the hotel smelt so nice and it looked good with a nice bar and lounge area. "We had an amazing Christmas at the Hatchet. Christmas Eve food was great and local musicians provided excellent entertainment which everyone in the pub joned in with. A fantastic atmosphere. The hotel rooms were warm and comfortable. Although we had one minor glich with our room, it was dealt with quickly and professionally. Thank you Gerry. We will certainly be staying at The Hatchet next time we are visiting Wiltshire. "
