The Fairmont Gold experience was worth it. Staff was courteous and well trained. We really enjoyed the amenities that came with the booking.

I called ahead of time to see if I could check in early, because it was my anniversary for my girlfriend and I. I wanted to check in at 12:00pm, (check in was listed as 3:00pm on Expedia, and 4:00pm at the hotel). I was told by Andre that if I upgraded my room, it would be ready by 12:00pm. I arrived at the hotel around 12:30pm and the room was not ready, and I was told it would be ready in 1 hour. No big deal. We went and explored the city for 1 hour and never got a call. We showed up at the hotel and were told that the room was “almost ready.” So we waited 15 minutes and it was. We were told that our bags were in our room. We went up to the room and it was amazing. The view, the cleanliness, the attention to detail. But our bags were MIA. My girlfriend was furious because she wanted to shower and get dressed up for the evening and we had no clue where our bags were. I spoke with management (Dean if I remember correctly) and he apologized, and offered flowers, a card, and champagne to rectify the issue. Our bags showed up 15 minutes later along with the extra amenities as promised. After that, there were no issues. The hotel was great but the operations felt clumsy, riddled with false promises, and I felt like I was upsold on the room.
