I had an amazing stay at the YMCA West Side in New York City! If you’re planning a small trip or even a solo getaway, this is such a great option. The price was extremely reasonable for NYC, especially considering the location. It felt very secure the entire time, which is so important when traveling alone. What I loved most was how quiet. It is perfect for resting after busy days exploring the city. Clean, simple, and peaceful. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a safe, affordable, and low-stress stay in NYC!

YMCA is not as posted. It is old and no one repair. Three bath places but two of doors were broken. Also no one mentioned there's hidden fees $10 per night...

The room was clean and met my expextations for my needs. I inteacted with 3 staff members and only one of the 3 was pleasant and helpful. I arrived on a Saturday morning and checked out on Monday and the bathrooms were not cleaned during my entire stay. Overall, I would stay again due to the price and location but I will definitely bring my own bathroom cleaning supplies.

A SAFE amenity for a single female solo traveler. Loved the security at the late night hours. Amenities were good enough. Women’s bathroom was sometimes clogged toilets but a hot shower and safe place to do business was all I needed. Thank you for letting me check in early for a fee so I could rest. It meant the world to me.

First night I found 4 roaches on my bedroom. The room gets a lot of light and there are no door for the bathrooms but the roaches were the worst.

Staff was rude when checking-in and there was a total of 5 roaches in my room in a span of 2 days. I had to check out early and reserve another hotel else where.

Excellent property located in a very convenient spot in NYC, walking distance from so many hotspots and subway stations. Rooms are average but excellent for the cost! Having single person restrooms that you card key into is really nice compared to other hostels. Highly recommend

On July 15, 2025 I paid for 6 nights from December 9-15 at The Westside YMCA. I was forced to check out on the 12th due to a toxic chemical in my room. I flew in from Los Angeles on the 9th. When I exited the elevator to go to my assigned room, #1133, I was met by a French guy who asked my room number. When I told him he said he had been in the room next door, there were bugs and they moved him to the other side. Not a good welcome. When I opened the door to my room, I was wearing a mask and still was able to smell a bad odor. It was now about 9 p.m. I went downstairs to ask for another room but I was told there were none. I went back up, opened the window as much as I could, went out to eat dinner and bought air freshener. I was in NYC to perform in a show Off-Broadway that was then moving to London. Important trip. I couldn’t sleep due to the bad odor and was finally moved to another room. The day of the show I was very ill. Turns out nobody had slept in #1133 for over a month. Obviously it never had been aired out after fumigation. I found a good hotel and moved on the 12th. My insurance should enable a refund. No hot water in showers either after 10 minutes of running it. Buyer Beware!

Das Zimmer machte einen heruntergekommen Eindruck. Farbe ging von der Wand ab, und diese hatte Risse. Der Boden war nicht richtig sauber. Außerdem waren fremde Haare im Bett. Für die ganze Etage gab es nur drei duschen und drei Toiletten. Diese waren aber halbwegs sauber. Zwischendurch waren diese aber nicht zugänglich, weil sie gereinigt wurden oder der Eingabecode nicht funktionierte. Positiv war die Lage. Sehr nah am Central Park. Von dort aus war alles sehr gut zu Fuß erreichbar.
