Ruins Hotel was magical. It's literally 25 steps to the entrance of the Herculaneum Ruins. The hotel staff, particularly Patricia, Luigi, and the chef, were exceptionally gracious and attentive. My room was sparkling clean and serene. The sunny breakfast room is lovely with big windows that overlook the site. Dinner is served on the 2nd floor-vine covered terrace, lit with twinkling lights. The food was excellent and plentiful. Luigi and Patricia were very helpful with local information. The hotel is in an old building (but with modern amenities to ensure comfort), with the particular charm and quirks that come with age, and an enchanting place to stay for a visit to the archaeological site. It's a 10 minute walk straight down the hill from the train station, and a short (but welcome) taxi ride up the hill to the station.
