if what you want is good food this is the place

very good restaurant with rooms. great service and very very clean. There is little to outside the village which is very small but perfect. There is no room to sit in comfort but the small issue aside perfect place to stay.

A magic evening in Umbria

Montone is a magical gem of a village tucked into the Umbrian hills, and La Locanda del Capitano gave us a magical evening. Our room, comfortable. Dinner, unforgettable under the direction of owner and chef Giancarlo Polito. Bravo! We will return.

Lovely hotel right next to the main square

We really liked this hotel and the staff in particular were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Nice traditional décor and a lovely terrace for relaxing in.

La Locanda Del Capitano

Lovely place with a charming chef and great food and wine. Our room was on the top floor with a comfy balcony. We stayed one hot summer afternoon with wine at the balcony. The picturesque view of Montone was just fabulous. Thank you Giannecarlo, for the welcome drinks and all the service we got from you. We'll come back again hopefully next year.

Unique location, great food, very helpful staff.

This small hotel inside the old walls of Monton, Italy, is comfy with a first-class chef who personally mingles with guests to tout that day's specialties. He had a breakfast sent to our room before our very early morning getaway. The only problem was that the plug-in coffee pot blew a fuse in the room. But the staff was crucial in helping us control our concern over a missing passport and helping us resolve the matter. A minor inconvenience: Guests must park outside the city walls and walk in a short distance over cobblestones. But the high-up view from the parking area of the surrounding farms and valleys is spectacular.

Great Location

Our stay was very comfortable in this lovely small hotel just off the piazza of Montone a magical hilltop village straight out of a romantic novel. With only about 8 rooms all decorated in a clean classical style with wonderful art work the friendly service made for a lovely break in the buzz of travelling. Would highly recommend.
