"Room was clean and staff worked to keep it so. Staff were good at providing a decent service and giving advice. No problem with parking although I do not think it was full up whilst we stayed there. Habe stayed at the inn 3 times and have always been satisfied with way were treated. For the future feel that the inn could benefit by introducing air conditioning."

"I would advise other travellers to be cautious, especially if arriving late or making a last-minute booking. I should also mention that I was told I would not be offered breakfast because I had booked last minute or arrived late. My experience with the reception staff made me feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. Regardless of the price paid for a room, every guest should be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not stay here again."

"The check in process was remote on Monday evening at 20:00. Had been call the hotel all Monday afternoon to ask some question as sixth sense kicked in that check in might be an issue. Read on the website that phones are not staffed Monday and Tuesday!! Place is very tired, marked walls everywhere, a bit of cleaning and elbow greese would go a long way. Floors unswept for days. Breakfast cereal all over the dining area for days, very crunchy! Staff attire was sloppy and shoes dirty, kinda...

"No food available. No bar to use. TV didn’t work. Shower was a dribble. Pillows made of lumps. The “packed mini bar” described by the staff had a small carton of long life orange juice in it. Nice view of a brick wall from the room. Constant noise of trains and cars on the A5. Not quite the Bankside idyl that the website promised. Save your money."

"The room was large, bright and clean with the added bonus of a fan. Staff were polite and helpful. Evening meal was superb. If we are in Harpenden again we will definitely stay here again."

"We had a lovely weekend at The Red Lion. The staff were incredibly helpful both ahead of and during our stay, and the pub food and breakfasts were very tasty. Our room felt a little dated and in need of maintenance in places, especially in the bathroom, but it served its purpose for our stay and we would be happy to go again."
