"This was our first hotel we stayed in during our Vietnam trip. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and nice - they felt like family. We loved the location - close to Hoan Kiem Lake and on a street where we felt like locals. Loved the chairs and table on the porch where you could sit and watch the street life (we are 6 in our family so great for when we waited for someone to get ready). The small rooftop has a great view of the lake. Just a heads up about Vietnam - you never flush toilet paper - and you pay for your hotel room upon arrival - not when you check out. If you want a real Hanoi experience with an incredible friendly hotel staff- pick this hotel. The rooms vary - we had a smaller room with not a street view - made it a bit dark but at the same time quiet. "

"Room was small and the shower room and toilet doors were opening to the room touching the floor, making water come to the room's floor. It was not a big problem and not a maintenance issue but how the room was built/designed. Otherwise, service was great - staff were all very helpful and kind; location was very convenient (5 minute walk to the lake, to cathedral, to Circle K (24 hour convenience store), to banh mi stores, to a number of local cafes. We are happy with our stay at Grand Cititel Hotel. "

"The Rex is perfectly located in the old quarter of Hanoi. Their staff are incredibly helpful, even allowing us the store our suit cases over night when we went on a 2 day Ha Long Bay cruise. We will definitely choose the Rex for our next visit to Hanoi."

"Our first night took a bit of an adjustment as we arrived near midnight and the driver (arranged by the hotel) didn't know where the hotel was. We were dropped off a couple of blocks away and the hotel staff met us and walked us to the hotel. The hotel manager, Guan, made it all up to the next morning without us even asking. He found us at breakfast to apologize for the driver and upgraded our room for our 5 night stay. Guan was attentive throughout our stay - making sure our room upgrade was properly taken cared of, arranging our spa appointments, giving us great local recommendations and even saying goodbye with a local gift. Guan and the rest of the hotel staff gave us a truly relaxing and pampered stay. "
