Perfect location, clean, large lounge and restaurant area's both welcoming, decorated and furnished well. Food was a very high standard. The water in indoor pool could have been warmer but all on all we had a very nice stay.

Firstly when i checked in they gave me a very small room it was bot the room i booked ,i told the reception it was the wrong room and i was told all the rooms was standard ,i showed the room i went for on expedia.co.uk it was a much better room ,she trid to contact expedia.co.uk but they would not answer, so she tried the owners and they wanted to refund me but i did not want that because i wanted my holiday, then she offed me another room which was bigger and i had to except that,the porter told me it was for another couple but they would get the smaller room ,it looks like work out these rooms as first come first serve,i was very disappointed about it all but it didn't spoil my holiday

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Went away for a few days away as an early valentine's getaway. Despite the colder temperature, we both had a great time. The hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly and the location to the beach was minutes away. The facilities in the hotel were a bonus. I loved the use of the pool at the end of the day

Great seaside hotel

Excellent hotel close to the beach and walking distance of train station. Pool and spa treatments,extensive lounges. Good all round service and food good. Only facilities criticism is that the gym is too hot to really exercise.

Pleasant but.

Pleasant stay but we stayed in room 6 which has 2 very big sash cord windows which are both draughty and cold you can also hear a lot of road noise ie: delivery trucks and bin wagons with reverse sensor warnings at 7am, so with the weather being rather cold the room was cold even with the heating on.

It was so great we booked to stay an extra night. The only issue was the pillows were dreadful. Far too flat, I had to sleep with 3 so not the best sleep. But apart from that everything was amazing, staff, service, food and entertainment.

Swimming pool didnā€™t feel or smell clean and we didnā€™t enjoy that part of our stay. Was a big anti climax to what looked amazing in the pictures. Probably explained why it was empty

Because the bedroom was small there was no room even for a small dressing table in front of a mirror. The shower head was not adjustable, and hence having a shower without getting your hair wet is another problem for some ladies.

Weekend break

We have just had a weekend staying in the Empire Hotel and enjoyed our stay, the decor was lovely and everything was clean and well sanitised. However there were a few niggles that we feel let it down. We would not have expected to have paper cups and wooden stirrers in the room, not in a hotel of this price point. The breakfast we felt was underwhelming not having a lot of choice again in a hotel of this calibre we felt large pots of marmite , peanut butter etc were not acceptable. On a personal level my wife asked the waiter if the sausages were gluten free to be toldā€ letā€™s say theyā€™re notā€. Which to me felt as if he could not be bothered checking or offering a alternative, Gluten freeā€™toast ā€˜ was provided but had simply been put in the oven not a toaster and tasted of sausages! Drinks in the bar were reasonably priced but no crisps/ nuts were available to accompany the drinks. We did come across a couple of staff members who we felt were a little aloof but generally the stay was good although all these niggles would prevent us returning as we have stayed in many quality hotels and felt the Empire didnā€™t quite match up in our experience. I am sure many people have stayed, and returned and enjoyed their stays as we did , but for us personally itā€™s not for us.

The room was spotless and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The staff on reception were particularly helpful. We were disappointed that the evening meal menu was a fixed price 4 course meal, with no a la carte options. The food was lovely but we really didnā€™t want a four course meal.

Hotel lovely though showing signs of age . Could do with a face lift . I booked a manicure but only had a few colours and could not do french polish which was why o booked it in the first place so was very disappointed. Staff friendly and bed extremely comfortable
