"I was pleasantly surprised by the superb location and views. Everything about my one night stay was impeccable with a possible question mark over parking. I was lucky finding a parking space on the promenade but in season it might be a problem. "

"It was clean and tidy and decent kitchen facilities, there was no coffee table or table to eat at so we had to eat on our laps which was not ideal. The garden could do with a gate as it's on the main road to Pwllheli - we could not let our dogs out. The garden was chipping pretty much and surrounded by a caravan motorhome storage , no plants and pretty uninviting so we never used it even though the weather was good - the garden could do with some plants. "Spotlessly clean hotel with the nicest most helpful staff, and my husband had the big welsh breakfast and raved about it every day and they were very helpful with my dietary needs, nothing was too much trouble and the evening meal we had was delicious. The bed was very comfortable and we will certainly stay here again. Even our dog was treated to a bowl of sausage of a morning, we can find no fault."

"The staff were pleasant and the pool area was OK. Location of the hotel was good. However on the second floor the decor was in need of a lot of improvement. The carpet was threadbare in places; the corridor and our room 223 had paint flaking off in places; the curtains were in need of replacement and were tattily drawn which looked a mess. The bathroom only had one narrow shelf above the toilet which meant there was nowhere to put your toiletries. Finally thought paying £10 per night for car...

"The whole hotel was spotless. The rooms were quiet, I slept very well, and the food was amazing. We were visiting from Houston, Texas, and would definitely like to visit again. "

"Hotel is in a good location, ample parking. It's a stately building fairly well maintained, though the elevator access on floor 1 is hindered by the carpeting that restricts the door from opening. Yes you have to manually open the door to access the 50 + year old elevator and make sure it doesnt swallow any body part when the door closes, very cool. The food in the attached restaurant/ pub was good, though the service was hindered by only 1 person doing everything, hotel check in and restaurant...

"I really enjoyed my one night stay at Y Pengwern. The bar was friendly when we checked in, and when I was shown my room was amazed at how big it was. I was backpacking and there was plenty of room to reorganise my kit, and the bed was large and very comfortable. After a long day's walk we were looking forward to food, and were very happy with the big hearty meals we had in the restaurant.
