Sehr schönes, "altehrwürdiges" Hotel direkt am Meer. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Meerblick im 1. OG; man sollte sich bewusst sein, dass das Rauschen der Wellen schon sehr laut ist (d.h. wer beim Schlafen absolute Ruhe braucht, sollte kein Zimmer mit Meerblick buchen). Für uns war es toll und es hat uns auch nicht gestört. Das Zimmer war für drei Personen (2 Erw., 1 Kind) allerdings sehr beengt, dafür war aber der Balkon ausreichend groß (auch wenn wir ihn wg. der Jahreszeit nicht benutzt haben, zu kühl am Abend). Das Hotel hat drei schöne Pools (einer war noch nicht befüllt), die man auch schon benutzen durfte (aber ... noch zu kalt). Generell bietet das Außengelände sehr viel Platz für Sonnenliegen etc.; es gibt auch einen kleinen Spielplatz. Das Personal, vor allem im Restaurant, war sehr, sehr freundlich; wir haben uns daher sehr wohl gefühlt. Es war ein Erlebnis, direkt am Meer zu wohnen; hinter dem Hotel führt ein Weg (gesäumt von Fischrestaurants) am Ufer entlang, wir haben meterhohe Wellen gesehen, das war verrückt. :) Der Strand liegt vor der Nase, d.h. im Sommer evtl. eine Option dort Baden zu gehen, falls der Wellengang es zulässt. Einzige Problematik: der hoteleigene Parkplatz fasst nur etwa 30-35 Autos; es gibt aber weitere kostenlose Parkplätze außerhalb des Hotels. Da das Hotel von vielen Reisegruppen angesteuert wird (die mit dem Bus kommen), ist das dann in der Saison vermutlich kein Problem für Individualreisende.

We had a lovely stay at this gorgeous resort. The staff were kind, courteous, and super helpful. The resort itself is gorgeous and located in the most picturesque spot, perched over the ocean. We look forward to returning and staying longer. It is worth noting that the hotel is walkable to a gorgeous ocean-front park and many local restaurants. The location of the Vila Gale is perfect. You have beautiful ocean views from the pools and restaurants as well as your room. You merely steps from the beach and other shops and restaurants. Rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. The breakfast is top-notch, and the staff is warm and welcoming. There is no other choice in Ericeira, but the Vila Gale.

We love Ericeira and always stay at Vila Gale, we’ve never had a bad experience. It could probably do with a bit of an upgrade in some areas but it’s a lovely hotel overall.
