"Charged us £200 for hot tub damage that was not caused by us! Very disappointing as it has taken away from our weekend there "

"Was a fantastic stay with friendly staff who looked after us. Absolutely one of the best stays on an hotel. Food also was excellent. Both me and my wife would recommend the Gateway."

"We used the Hare & hounds as a stopover on our way home but will give serious consideration to returning to explore the Lakes from there"

"The rooms were fine-we’d stay there again. The bathroom fan was running in the wrong direction-pulling air in."

"The room was lovely and clean. Super comfy bed and I really loved the dine-in kit. The hot tub was a great addition, very clean and easy to use. Had great communication with the team. Thank you !"

"Our room in the coach house was compact but was very clean, had everything we needed and overall satisfactory. Our room faced the main road so lots of traffic noise. The shower room window had clear glass & faced the car park with only a blind for privacy. Last time we stayed we were in a larger quieter Lapwing room which for us was better. Breakfast was very good food & service. All staff attentive, willing & helpful. Would stay again but aim for Lapwing upgrade."

"The hotel is well placed to explore the area. The room was comfortable, clean and great for the 2 nights we stayed. The bar was cosy with the wood burner on, breakfast set you up for the day and dinner was tasty and substantial 😁 The staff were friendly and helpful; we would stay again"

"I rarely write reviews about holiday stays but had to do so for our three night stay at Grange Manor. The room was fabulous-luxurious,spotless and so comfortable and the extra finishing touches made it a home from home. Breakfast served every morning in the room was a delight. No noisy dining room nor rush to have table cleared away. All was at our pace which was what we wanted. A peaceful haven in a beautiful setting with the most friendly and helpful staff made this break first class. We...

"The property has real presence and looks stunning. Its decor is in keeping with the property and looks a bit worn but makes it feel loved. Breakfast was good but we had to wait both days for the food to be topped up as there’s only one waiter trying to do everything. The room was large and bed was comfy. The bathroom was not good no water pressure so water came out very slowly and not very hot. Shower unit was very noisy and no heating for such a big bathroom apart from a towel rail so it was...

"Staff were excellent. The food was excellent. Everywhere was spotless. The 4 bedrooms are up 3 flights of stairs but the staff we extremely helpful. An enjoyable experience. The pub is quirky."

"We stayed in a family room which was brilliant. The kids had a separate sleeping area and separate beds which was great! Nice spacious room for the four of us. Everything needs updating but i overheard that this property is being updated soon. Unfortunately the water was turned off on our last morning. Reception warned us the night before which we were grateful for and we were provided with plenty of bottled water in the morning and an apology from reception which i was grateful for. We found...

"A pleasant, convenient stopover on our road trip This was a really nice spot to break up our road trip. The on-site bar was a highlight, offering a great food and drink menu alongside warm, attentive service from the staff. Having a quality breakfast included in the stay was a definite plus and set us up well for the drive ahead. The room itself was slightly dated, but everything was clean, functional, and comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay...

"Me and my friends were really looking forward to this weekend away, was very disappointed that first they toke my money from my card when it was pay at property I had to call to find out why? The breakfast food some was finished so we didn’t get some of the things the toaster was broken you had to keep waiting for cups, the surna was broken so was the jacuzzi, the person that makes the room didn’t even bother to re do the room. They tried to change be again for the massage when check out even...

"Warm welcome and amazing, helpful staff team. Lovely clean rooms and great water pressure. Buffet style cooked breakfast was only thing that was not 100% ... one day it was all pretty dried under the lights, although the next stay it was much busier and breakfast was fresher as turnaround of stock was faster. We ate one night in the restaurant and the food was good but a little pricy, although expected for a hotel restaurant. We would definitely stay again if in the area."

"Very helpfull and friendly staff especially Morgan and Megan. Room clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed. Excellent views of Lake Windermere. Food was delicious with superb gluten free options"

"Room was spacious and modern, bathroom too."
