Wonderful location, overlooking the clear running river. Our accomodation was spacious and very clean with a great view of the river and forest. The food was beautifully presented and delicious.
Having a stay in this resort is impressive! The room is spacious and clean. The view from the room is great! The room even equipped with a onsen bath inside the room. The onsen facilities are great! The dinner and the breakfast are super good, and the night ramen is nice. The staff are helpful and nice. I will revisit it in the future for sure!
This is a beautiful hotel with great views of the river and countryside. It is quiet and the rooms are very nice. I used the private baths with no waiting. The bar is a great whisky and wine bar. Complimentary ramen was very nice and filling. Other snacks are also given free. Staff were so friendly, and managed around my language barrier with ease and friendliness.
To start with the positve. The rooms are wonderful, they give you the charm of Japan with the comfort of a 5 star western hotel. The food is excellent, but be warned you must pre-arrange your meals, there is no regular restaurant. Also they only serve breakfast and dinner. If you are not driving, we took the rail and local bus, it is inconvenient to get to, and a bit far from the actual Lake Akan town. The hotel will shuttle you to and from the town. over all we had an extremely relaxing time there and recomend it for high quality down time.
All good, just one minor, the breakfast, staff forgot to light up the grill stove for fish (we choose Japanese style), we ended up eat the "grilled" fish in cold
Lovely and beautiful surrounds. We had the forest view and could see deers roaming freely. Dinner was excellent. The public onsen was along the river, very close to nature. Highly recommended and hope to be back someday
The room offered may be adult-only but the hotel isn’t adult only; there’s a lot of families and children and the sound proofing isn’t great. So if there’s a family staying above you, there’s a lot of banging above you and you can hear screaming. The hotel is otherwise fantastic if you ’re not sensitive to noise.
The overall experience of my stay is terrible: there are molds in the bathtub; the toothbrushing cup was used as cigarette trash tray by previous occupant and was not replaced when we move in; the washbasin is jammed; the sewer make noises randomly the whole night; the receptionists and staff barely speaks English.
The only good things of the hotel are exterior view and food.
Amazing venue but food and service can be improved
I was amazed and delighted by the hotel and room. The hotel’s location is amazing, with views of the nearby forest and stream. Deer visit frequently and can be seen from the room window. A superbly peaceful and serene place to stay. A car is needed as it’s a 5 min drive to the nearby town and tourist attractions.
The hotel room is also generously sized, with a sitting area, a huge almost full length window, and a sleeping area which can be separated from the sitting area with blinds that the hotel thoughtfully installed. The bathroom comes with a wooden tub that can be filled with hot water for a personal onsen experience.
A touch of old world charm was added in the form of coffee beans and hand operated coffee grinder, rather than the soulless instant coffee in most hotels.
The hotel’s onsen facilities are also amazing, sitting in the outdoor pool felt like sitting in the middle of a secluded forest. There are also 3 private onsen rooms for a more private onsen experience .
Where the hotel could improve is to improve the food offering and also the service level. We had both breakfast and dinner and both were of rather average quality. I would also note that the service levels can be improved - the hotel declined to provide a shuttle bus ride into the town, just because we had our own car. They also misrepresented the price of the dinner to us - telling us the cost was jpy4400. We were charged jpy8800 per person upon check out!
