"Pretty solid stay! I just needed about 3 days when visiting Kyoto and Osaka. I was surprised that they wanted me to turn in my key every time I went out though. You need to make a reservation if you want to eat breakfast, I didn't go because it seemed like hassle "

It was in a peaceful area and the staff were always on hand to answer any questions and offer refreshments. We had seen a couple of negative reviews for this property prior to staying but our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Looking forward to returning in the future."

"Modern hotel with old Japan touches. Loved the yakata robes and tatami mat floors. Most comfy Japanese hotel bed ever. The cafe that serves breakfast below was amazing and I loved the quiet location in Arashiyama. It was an easy 15 minute walk to the river."

"Love that this ryokan had halal meal options! The entire place is gorgeous with a beautiful view of Lake Biwa. Easy to get to (they have a shuttle bus from the train station). If you have a private onsen, just know that the shower is also outside. No other options, unless you use the public bath."
